Will IL add items via patches like Diablo 2 did?

Since I've been playing the game, I figured this was a given, of course they'll increase the loot tables and give us more variety in legendary equipment, but then I got to reading the Xfire dev chat and came across this:

"[IL] Tom Potter: Question: Gorkk: Do you plan to release some free mods in the future, in the way BioWare did for Neverwinter Nights (and maybe add new content through patches like they did)?

Answer: Because we releasd the editor with the game, there is already a thriving community of mod-makers playing around with the editor. I've seen some of the work so far and it's impressive. I'm sure if you do a search online you can find forums where people are already working together to make great mods"

It sounds to me like they wont be adding more and more items to the core game. Has anyone heard anything on this?

I didn't get a "yes" or a "no" from his answer. It was evasive if that's the entire answer.

I'd like to know this as well.

Because while we seem to be able to do tons of stuff with the mod tools, unless I'm missing something we cannot do them to the main campaign?

Yeah, wasn't answered with a yes or a no...probably meant a no for the moment, and if you want some now search for ones already created.

That's right. You essentially make a copy of your main campaign character that can't be used in the main campaign. So I guess that means if someone releases new items and such, it will be excluded from the "core" game.

Requesting new items already? It has over 1500 uniques, way beyond what D2 had in it's career. There is an unbelievable number of legendaries alone, and the greens are random and often very good too.

actually from what ive seen on a website that has all the legendaries posted there, theres not that many, it would be awsome that later down the track maybe half a year or so that they release a patch with some new items and such but from the looks of things they might not.

Mostly because if they make a sequel or an expansion thoughs new items would become obsoleet (mind the spelling of that :P)

There aren't 1500 unique items. They include all of the prefixes and suffixes.. if you count D2 that would be dwarfed by the amount that D2 had going for it.

LOL. Did was the guy being interviewed a former press secretary for some politician? That was a crafty, yet obviously evasive answer.

Now I remember what I read. 1500 pieces of art for the equipment. There is over 1000 uniques though.
