Hi guys,
Is there anybody who know if it is legal/allowed to release new version of the toolset (Art Manager/Editor/Questeditor)? Or would it mean to break the license to THQ?

Well, I suppose there should be an EULA of some sort. Maybe there it is clearly stated what you can and what you cannot do with those tools...
BTW: Why are you asking? I'm a bit curious![]()

Didn't find a point to this in the EULA, and even if, there are much projects which do exceede the limits of if, but I'm not sure what is about the toolsets and releasing whole updated programms. The main reason why I ask is, I wrote an update for the art manager which updates it to v. 1.2. The update contains a little support for Mesh and Template workings with the Art manager. I thought about releasing it and wanted to know if it would be legal.
The Update changes 2 options from the Art Manager, which will allow you to use Mesh and Template files for archiving. So it means, if you export .obj dates with the mesh viewer from Tamchi to msh dates, you will be able to put it in the source folder of your mod and create automatically asset (or selfmade asset). The AM now know the data type "msh" and can archive it. (Before the update, you needed to put .obj dates there, but the AM always failed with the MAX server, so you were not able to use your mesh files in mods, you only were able to archive them by using command line.) And the second option is, the AM didn't know tpl files for creating assets. Now it knows the filetype .tpl and can archive it, too.
This are the 2. changes i did, for easier and lesser expenditure in modding.
I'm thinking about editing the Tpl editor, so that you REALLY can create new templates with the Art Manager, not only put nameless lines there. But this will be much more work than the both things i wrote above, and idk if I can do it.
Greetings
Elfe

Sounds awesome! Keep up the good work! As for the legality... well it should be fine since there is no ILE anymore and THQ doesn't even look at TQIT anymroe.

I hope it helps some moderators and saves time in working.
Nice job, Elfe!![]()
thanks. I realized after the releasing the problem with the template auto asset creation, but I hope it helps nevertheless. Tried to fix it, but found no way yet. I'll post an update if I do.
If you worry about the license you could always release it as patcher for the original. Distributing only changes shouldn't conflict with copyright laws anywhere.
