Epic items?

I just started playing the Underlord mod and it's been a lot of fun. I've almost finished Act I, and I notice that I'm already level 23.

I'm just curious; will Epic level items and drops start to appear before reaching Epic difficulty? It seems like, if they don't, the gear will max out long before I've finished the game on Normal, and the difficulty will ramp up considerably as gear fails to keep up.

Yes epic items appears on normal difficulty those are items with blue color if you didn't get any yet then you are just unlucky.

I should clarify what I mean. I mean items of the quality that normally appear on the Epic difficulty level, like Epic Boar Hide instead of Boar Hide, for example.

No, you wont start finding epic or legendary versions of charms/relics in normal. But you will start finding other charms and relics as you proceed to new areas, and those will get better.

But don't look at charms and relics as a necessity to keep up, but as a way to fix holes in your gear. For example, when you are low on poison resist and are facing a tough boss that uses poison damage, you can socket some pristine plumage charms without having to look for replacement armor.
