Thread: Warden to fragile

    Warden to fragile

Started playing TQ to hold me over for D3. Decided to make a warden because I heard good things. The problem is, in Act 3 my survivability seems to be dropping off hard. Previous 2 acts I had no real problem, just having to drink a health pot every once in a while. But now, I've got to use one after every group of mobs. I'm not sure where I've gone wrong. Here are some stats, as I can't figure out how to screen shot. (I have fanpatch, btw)

    HP: 3xxx
    Str: 369
    Dex: 306
    (been putting 1:1)

    Avg. Dmg: 187
    Spd: 110%
    DPS: 205
    Armor: 337

I've finished both the masteries. I have maxed Wood Lore and Pulverize. 4/6 in volley as the next skill to max. I have 1 point in the other shield procs, art of the hunt, and study prey.

So, what's going on? Do I need to max some Defense skills first, or maybe find some better equipment. What should I be looking for on that equipment?

As the game goes further the difficulity increases also. You can expect for your survivability to drop especially when you meet Dragonians. It will continue to drop throughout the Act 3 and Act 4. You can look for some Hale items, giving you bonus STR and Health, or even exchange some of your gear for more survivability. But do not expect anything major. It is pretty hard part of the game, and ACT IV is only going to be harder.

Could you possibly link the Titancalc for your Warden, since seeing text like this isn't that helpful.

You also want to look at your resistances. Act III and Act IV can be major shocks to all characters when it comes to survivability. You want to make sure that you have good pierce resist, good armor, etc. What gear do you have? A TitanCalc would be helpful to look at your skills.

    Sorry, here's the titan-calc: http://www.titancalc.com/TitanCalc.a...-0-0-0-0-0-6-0

I understand that the game does get harder, but it seems that, looking at other peoples character at a similar level, my stats seem to be far below them. I'm not twinking, so maybe that's it, but I don't know.
Equipment wise: I've got obsidian set torso and cuffs. Babylonian set shoes. A helm with as much armor as I could find. Rings and amulet all for +str. Amber flask for artifact.

Getting at least one attack skill would be your best bet. Put points in Shield Charge and Batter and their synergies. This will really make a difference in killing stuff faster. I also recommend a point in both Quick Recovery and Colossus Form. You can take a look at my thread in this section for some tips. Putting a single point in a lot of skills really makes a difference. Good luck!

Will the shield procs go off with batter and charge?

Batter and charge are basically multi-target shield procs on demand, with the added stun and charge of shield charge. It's a no-brainer whether you should get them... so just get at least Shield Charge.

Level 28 with no attack skills, wow you're brave. Get at least a point into Marksmanship, Puncture and Scatter; Herbal Remedy to boost health regen and help with poison resistance; Art of the Hunt's synergies Find Cover and Trail Blazing; Monster Lure; Adrenaline, Resilience and Defensive Reaction; Shield Charge and Disruption; Colossus Form and Concussive Blow if using a club/mace. Then max out Scatter and Puncture after you finish maxing Volley to start dealing more damage and taking out those mobs before they can reach you. After that build up Adrenaline tree, Disruption and Herbal Remedy to boost your health regen.

Act 3 is harder than the first two; don't forget it was the last act of the game before Immortal Throne added an extra one so you'd expect it to be more difficult and IT's Act 4 will ramp it up again. These are probably the hardest acts in the game, but if you can get through, then Epic will be a bit easier for while after that.

Unless you're a Bowarden, this will be useless.

    EDIT:
From the looks of things, you rushed to max your masteries as fast as possible while paying little heed to actual skills. You're going to want to put in 1/1 in Batter/Rend Armor and 1/6 in Shield Charge/Disruption. You also ignored the Art of the Hunt and Battle Awarness trees. You'll want to get a good spear and go 12/6/1 in Art of the Hunt and start out with 1/1/1 in Battle Awareness. Pop a point in Herbal Remedy to get some poison resistance going. A point in Colossus Form is a must-have for all defense classes.

At this point in the game my build would probably look something like this: Warden

But this is personal taste. For a spear warden I would rush the defense tree and Pulverize.

Yeah, going spear/shield warden, but I didn't realize I needed an attack skill that badly. As for batter and shiled charge, the reason I ask about the procs is because I want to know if I should keep pulverize maxed or move 5 points out of it into other things.
