Congrats, parasite. Which toon are you trying out next?
Congrats, parasite. Which toon are you trying out next?
I am not so sure and I read alot of topics to help me decide...
Although I will probably start a new toon today or tomorrow.
Let me explain my thoughts...
First of all I have almost all the legendary shields in game (except aionios and two/three others) including Ancile, Zeno's etc. and many spears and bows that dropped while farming for SBCs in Labyrinth or from Hydra. So I was thinking about a bow/spear hybrid. Although because I don't like bows so much I would prefer using spear/shield more often than bow (but I'll see..).
Also I want to try new masteries this time, so I prefer no dream or warfare. That's the reason I was between Bone Charmer and Brigand (prefering Bone Charmer a little bit more). I also have stickied Irma's guide for Bone (Bown) Charmer and read it through and I loved it. Although I would prefer a more of a Spear/Shield approach (so Irma if you can help me with that I would be gratefull). I also would like to now which one of the two classes has better AOE skills or is a better boss killer. Btw which character is best with spear shield without using bow (except that *cheat* 100% Avoid Projectiles Haruspex).
According to AOE now I would like to play in the near future some Intelligence char with great AOE skills and that is fun and strong if played right. So if you have any suggestions about that aswell please help me out.
And a few things about me..
During the last 10-15 years I have played many RPGs (or Action/RPGs) and I love farming for new items, so I spend a lot of time farming with my chars (and I will continue playing my Harbringer half the time for sure while leveling the new toon). So I would like characters that are good for farming bosses, AOE mobs in xmax for MIs and so on...So I need helpfull info for toons that are good in Legendary (and don't care so much if they have difficulties during Normal/Epic). I also dont like kiting and running away from mobs, so I usually prefer melee toons in my games, or at least not so fragile characters.
Any suggestions would be much appreciated
P.S. Since I asked all my questions here, let me ask another one too. Although I use TQvault for exchanging items faster between my toon and my 15-20 bank toons (made some cause I didnt know about Vault back then), I am afraid to put items in the vault. Is it safe? And what file should I backup for not loosing my items if something happens in my PC? Atm I only backup the Imoortal Throne file from MyGames, I also saw that TQvault has a file inside the Titan quest file. Is that the only file I need to backup and copy back again if some problem occurs? I am really tired of moving things around chars and I would like a safe solution.

No, it's quite safe to put items in the Vault, although I don't know how to back up the file. I store all my items in the Vault and then give them to whoever needs them. I'm sure it's possible to back up the Vault and someone else is sure to know the answer. Or read/search for info on how to back it up.
I'm just trying out Irma2's Bown Charmer guide now and so far it's working very well. I love bow users and am always interested to hear how different people play them.
I've not succeeded yet in getting a caster/intel toon to the end of the game, but you might like to have a read of Poinas' Pwning with Spirit guide which is in the Spirit part of the Classes section. That's another guide I'm trying out and might suit your preferred play style as he recommends getting in close to the the best out of the Ternion Attack skill tree. Frightening with a caster toon, but it's working so far. I'm more of a stand back as far as possible kinds of player, unless it's a melee toon.![]()
Brigand is a decent boss killer and Bone Charmer is the primo boss killer - check the Hydra vid in my Bown Charmer guide. The drawback with both Brig and Bone Charmer spear toons is that neither has AoE attacks for spears, where Warden, Haru and Slayer all do. So while Brig and Bone Charmer both slaughter bosses, they battle more with trash mobs.
Brig has a way out by using Traps and Knives for AoE, spear for massive hits on single targets. Bone Charmer has to resort to bow if he wants to deal with large trash mobs quickly.
If you want a mostly spear/partly bow hybrid and don't want Warfare or Defense, Brig should work well. You can fly the bow completely and use Traps/Knives instead. Although the build that I'd choose if mostly spear is my preference would be Warden.
Thank you both for your answers!!
@Irma: I searched also through the forum and decided going the Warden's way (Hunting for spear/ Defense for shields sounds logical anyways). I'll trust you ofc
@Medea: Probably my caster toon will be a spirit/? since I read the guide and as I said I will target new skill trees with each toon for now
I'll start the toon tomorrow though, today I'll farm with my Harb and probably reach lvl 66 also...
Concerning TQVault Backup: All you need to copy over to an external HDD (or something similar) is the TQVaultData directory in the MyGames\Titan Quest folder... However, I would highly recommend copying both the Titan Quest and Titan Quest Immortal Throne directories that reside in MyGames. That way you have a backup of your vault files and your Chars (but those you already backup if I understood your post correctly...)

First of all thanks a lot for your answer!!
Actually I am a freak and already save both folders every now and then. Was thinking that it will do the job but didn't put any items in it for the chance of loosing it. I lalso didn't find any posts mentioning it while searching.
I will try using vaults now instead of innactive toons![]()
Glad to help. Vaults really are pretty much failsafe themselves and if you backup regularly, you'll survive any HDD failure![]()

Ditto. My Warden is lvl 69 and has only 2 deaths, both just mistakes on my part (timing error with Legendary Barmanu, Wing Flap o' Death by Legendary Dragon Liche after Colossus Form wore off). I use spear predominately, with some bow tossed in for variety. It's a very good, robust combo for spears because of Study Prey (debuffs enemy pierce resistance). Hydra goes down in seconds, I had no problem with 9 Gorgon Queens (bow) and SP is a breeze. I'm very happy with this toon, who's currently (almost) knocking on Legendary Hades' front door atm.
Ok, I have been doing some shop farming for spears and shields. No good dual-affix shields yet, though I did find one Herculean shield (no suffix, sadly). New spears from shop farming include:
Veteran's Stygian Glaive of Devouring
Veteran's Xyston of Ruin
Colossal Stygian Glaive of Havoc
Relentless Xyston of Annihilation
Colossal Xyston of Havoc
Ferocious Stygian Glaive
and the latest find
Tyrant's Xyston of the Eagle
Would any of these be good enough ?
Lately I have been farming Nessus for some good Outrider's Buckler. Nothing outstanding so far, though I have found Scale of the Black Dragon twice. Oh, and I have also found Sapros twice....
Never make fun of dragons. You will just make an ash of yourself.
