Latest PC Gamer Magazine Top 100 PC Games of All-Time

PC Gamer magazine's March 2012 issue has Titan Quest ranked #65 in the Top 100 PC Games of All-Time. Personally, I'd have ranked it a LOT higher.

For those who are interested, PC Gamer listed these as the Top Ten of All-Time:

    1) Portal
    2) The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
    3) Team Fortress 2
    4) Fallout 3
    5) Dragon Age: Origins
    6) World of Warcraft
    7) The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion
    8) Arma 2: Operation Arrowhead
    9) Civilization IV
    10) Starcraft II: Wings of Liberty

Other notable RPGs, isometric or otherwise, to crack the Top 100:

    12) Mass Effect 2
    15) Diablo II
    20) Mass Effect
    33) The Witcher 2
    42) Star Wars: The Old Republic
    60) Arcanum
    61) Planescape: Torment
    73) Divine Divinity
    81) Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic 2

What? Oblivion is №7, but Morrowind isn't in Top Ten? Blasphemy.

Amazingly, Morrowind wasn't even in the Top 100... Unbelievable.

Those lists always tend to favor newer games, graphics do matter for most people.
TQ also ranks higher in my personal top list, but then I don't think I have even played 100 different pc games
There may be no 'I' in team, but there's a 'ME' if you look hard enough.

Yeah, there are a lot of new games on the list (Arma 2? Where did that come from?). For many years, Deus Ex was the top game on PC Gamer's yearly list, but it fell all the way to #28 this year. Of course, these lists are purely subjective. My PC is almost 10 years old, so I haven't played anything newer than Titan Quest Gold. So, if I were to make a list, it would be comprised of all older games and wouldn't accurately reflect the changes in gaming that have taken place over the past 5 years or so. Still, there are some very quirky picks on the list, some rather inexplicable.

Do I care about their opinion? No. Do I care about critics and reviews? No.

Geez, these are the guys(add many other "reviewers") that a few years ago would have laughed at you because you were playing video games. I don't see what's the big deal about it.

That's more like, the top 10 of the last few years.

Do they mean the best games one could go and play today? Or the best ones relative to what there was at their time? Or a bit of both?

Even though I would agree with some choices, assumed it is the former, this does indeed look more like some random ass-pull with a few personal favourites (Arma?!) mixed in.

I think PC Gamer doesn't look at all games, just the ones, as you pointed out Violos, that have been released the past few years. I remember in 2006 and 2007, nearly every release (24 magazines) they couldn't stop talking about Oblivion. Ad now? Not even a "Good work, Bethesda. Great game, even now" I wish they could take it slower, and get a fuller view of great games
