Liche king vs Death Nova vs Outsider

Ok so I am reviewing Poinas guide for skills and I notice it mentions the liche king gaining a soul blight ability at level 5 which reduces 33% of the enemy's health but then I notice the next skills Death Nova which also works on reducing a % of the enemy's health, so my question is: Is Death Nova being with a redundant effect worth any form of investment (other than a single point prerequisite for Wraith Shell)?
My other question is if the liche is permanent and can reduce this chunk of enemy's health, is outsider practically needed (other than being a 1 point wonder)?

You can max the LK and put only 1 point into DN but I generally end up maxing it. With some spirit builds the Outsider doesn't even get the chance to hit the boss. It's actually funny as you cast him and he goes towards the boss but when he arrives... there is nothing more for his sword. Bear in mind it takes some gear and time to reach this, so 1 point Outsider is highly recommended.

but doesn't outsider exactly do what the LK's soul blight does (reduce 33% of the enemy hp)...if so what is the difference...same question for DN, why invest in it (other than to get to wraith shell) if soul blight does the job?

Because you wanna use it mainly against Bosses, guess what Bosses have in huge amounts? Vitality Resist. So the higher the reduction is the better, DN also adds some vit damage.

death nova is an area spell, it reduces every opponent's life by 33% within range

got ur point...but do u mean also that the % reduction to health is resisted by same resistance as vitality?...there seems to be a lot of hidden info in that game...is there a thread containing this stuff?

You're correct. With Necrosis you can greatly reduce that Boss resist stacked with any other -resist you might have... If you have a Harrowing staff (~ 13% hp reduction), Outsider, LK with SB and DN... It's just broken, the boss union should file a lawsuit asap Pretty much what Poinas did with his Diviner, but can also be used as well with Take Down...

Definitely try to max out the Lich King, he is so powerful, even in Normal. Im only lvl 24 and all I do is run around the bosses while he destroys them. Plus with Wraith Shell he is pretty much impossible to hit. I've only had him die once on me.
