Congrats on Wyrmskin. Kael's is very rare, I did thousands of Secret Passage runs before finally getting it from Hades. Ferrus unfortunately only drops in Act I Legendary. So bosses like the Hydra and Megalesios are probably the best bet. Although I've run both of those thousands of times and have never found it.

Just heading to Wusao Mountain(Normal) and there is an awful lot of ass-kickery going on.

This is a LOT of fun..........

Just got this game today and signed up. I was beginning to make a bow/spear hunter when I found your awesome guide. I have one question though. The caption for strength states that it is for melee damage, so I assumed dexterity was for ranged. Looking at your end build, it looks like you put every attribute point into strength, and just used the hunter level ups for dex. Is this correct? Should I stop putting all points into dex, or avoid it altogether aside from equipment bonuses?

    Thanks

The way I read it is that you'll need the STR points in order to equip the late game armours.

Anyhoo, just had my easiest ever battle with Typhon. Wish me luck for Act IV....

1:1 Str: Dex throughout. Both your bow and spear deal mostly plain physical damage, so Str boosts both. Also, the more plain physical damage you deal, the more gets converted into pierce damage - for both bow and spear.

The point into Dex every level increases your piercing damage slightly and, more importantly, gives you good OA and DA levels along with allowing you to equip any high Dex items (such as Stonebinder's Cuffs, high level spears/bows and Gorgon armour items) in Legendary.

Batman, good to hear that it's working well for you so far. If I can make a recommendation at this point, it would be to spend some time farming the Soronis swamps in Act IV to get yourself a Bramblewood bow. Even if your listed DPS doesn't increase that much (although it should, Bramblewoods have good base damage), your real world damage will go through the roof. If you have a spare Artemis, Achilles or Shen-Nong's relic to pop into it, so much the better.

Once you get that, Act IV should be quite easy as long as you can kite the Machae archers or Onslaught nasties decently. When you're past the Act IV hurdle and into Epic, the Bown Charmer really takes off. You get LK, Outsider for bosses and those killer early Epic bows like Teucer's Warbow. I've never catapulted through Acts I and II Epic as quickly as with my Bone Charmers. Even with only moderate gear finds, the toon ramps up to a completely new level.

Thanks for the words, Irma. I'm currently using Scythian Touch, which is giving me great bonuses.

One of the first things to drop from the toads was a Bramblewood Bow, but it didn't really compare to the Scythian. It can't have been one of the good ones.

I've just got Clvl 31, do you think I'm a little under-levelled? Or does it not really matter? I am one-shotting all of the regular monsters, Scattershot seems to deal with the rest.

Ah, the joys of Hunting, eh, Batman? As for being underleveled, I reckon Irma would be able to advise you better than I can. Generally, I won't leave Normal East Silk Road portal area until my toons are lvl 35. Just a quirk of my gameplay style. I prefer to grind for XP when I can so my skills are better, although it sounds as if you're cruising along at lvl 31 if you've already ripped Typhon a new one! My current Bown Charmer is lvl 34 atm, but I haven't played her for awhile (been doing the ol' Diviner). This guide has gotten me itching to get my Bown Charmer going again!

Batman - yeah, you're maybe a bit under-leveled, I am generally 33/34 when starting Act IV. It's not critical, though, you can easily spend a level in Soronis getting Bramblewood/Batrachos gear/Ismene's. Another good farming spot is the first two levels of Tower of Judgment for Tortured Soul. So you can easily make up a couple of levels during Act IV.
