Thread: Melee Diviner

    Melee Diviner

After 1 year of TQ neglect (and a new laptop) I've finally reinstalled it and started a Melee Diviner focussing on Vitality Damage.

I must say, it is a blast to play, nearly as much fun as my Warden. I've gotten him through the normal campaign fairly easily. Dying only two times due to sheer carelesness.
However, I'm currently in Epic Greece and I found the undead to be very tough to kill. Not really tough but certainly to tough. Even with Deathchill Aura/Ravages of Time/Necrosis almost maxed.

To investigate I attacked some skeletons with and without Deathchill&co and found out that the damage I do doesn't get any bigger when I use the debuffs.

    So how does this work?

Are you activating Necrosis? It needs to be activated separately to Deathchill.

I can't 'activate' Necrosis because it's tied to Deathchill Aura. I can activate and am activating Ravages of Time though because it was fixed in the patch and is therefore a special case. Are your refering to RoT or should Necrosis be able to be activated?

No, Necrosis isn't able to be activated. You are correct Minos, in that it is tied to Deathchill. Irma was thinking of Ravages of Time, which it seems you are activating.

If you're activating both then it seems that your game is broken. If Necrosis isn't working and you aren't able to leech life off Undeads, then you won't have a happy time with melee Diviner and should probably try another build.

    What about Spirit Bane?

I have started using Spirit Bane and it certainly does help. But the main issieu is that I'm currently using a Vitality Damage based character whose way of decreasing enemy Vit Resist doesn't work. Greatly decreasing the damage I might be able to do.

Can you at least leech life back from Undeads? If not, then there are serious problems with Necrosis.

I was sure I was having issues with Necrosis on my early-game Spellbreaker too on v1.18... not even the slightest bit of Vitality Damage or Life Leech on undeads hit by (a fairly weak) Necrosis....

The only problem I've had with my Int-Vit Diviner is Shades. Man, those things have some wacky level of Vit resist. So I kill them with EBD instead.
