It depends. I myself prefer two or three greens and blues over uniques and even mastercrafted gear but it all comes down to how many sockets/what type of sockets they have. As a general rule though, mastercrafted/purple gear tend to be more powerful - especially when it comes to might/finesse weapons. Golds tend to be build-specific.

I use staves, greatswords and chakrams. Staves are excellent for early game, allowing you to control the field. Chakrams are great for tackling multiple opponents and keeping them away. Greatswords are my late game fave.

Now this might sound weird, but I got a shock when I visited a Fateweaver the other day. I wasn't planning on a major toon change, just wanted to get back a point I'd inadvertently put where it shouldn't have gone. So I spend the money and go into Skills and everything's back to zero, but there's nothing showing how many points I have to spend. Anyway I start clicking, max Detect Hidden (favourite ability so far) and others until I can't add anything else and head off to Abilities to start building Might and Finesse back to how I want them. Still no points available showing and WOW I can't add anything.

Is this really the way the game was designed, that you've no idea how many points you have to reuse when you visit a Fateweaver and that they seem to be interchangable between Skills and Abilities as I put more points into Skills than I'd had originally? If so, this is a major flaw. Luckily I was careful and saved the game before I spent the money so just reloaded and carried on, but if that's how it works I'm never going to one again. It's crazy!

Have you hit Confirm after spending points in Skills? That should automatically bring you to Abilities menu, where you spend Ability points? If you just opened Abilities menu without confirming, then it shows you the current abilities, without possibility of spending points.
So, after visiting a Fateweaver, use Level Up option, spend skill points and Confirm it, then spend Ability points and Confirm again.

Skill points and Ability points are different, skill increases from racial bonus, Trainers and Books aren't reset.

Yeah, as far as I can recall I confirmed before moving on. Not sure I went in via the Level Up though, may have just selected "O" to get to Skills and then "P" for the Abilities.

Yes, that was the problem. I obviously didn't go in via the Level Up. I tried it again doing it properly this time and the points were there for reallocation. Whew! Thanks.

Are the jails in the game worth doing? Okay, yes you can practice a bit of Stealth or Combat to get out and get some XP, but that seems to be about all. I haven't bothered with them so far as there's plenty of other caves/dungeons for that sort of thing and you get some loot as well.

There's a quest for them, and a few do have interesting random loot/inmates, but they're completely optional and you can safely ignore them if you have something else better to do.

Well, going on the Gorhart one I went into today on Normal play, they're not worth it. I picked the lock, expecting to be pounced on the the guards and ... nothing. Went in, wandered around, looted the single chest and came out again with no reaction from anyone. Definitely not what my strategy guide says would happen, but I've noticed one or two other things that didn't go the way they said, so may be a Hard play only thing. Might be a bit more to the Travellers side quest (one of my toons has picked it up, but not done it yet), but otherwise I'm going to ignore them.

Hi guys, another question I can't seem to find the answer to. How does the armor progress in this game for buying to put gems into? I bought some trollhide stuff and put gems in that, but I can't work out where it is in relation to other stuff on offer. I've seen Sylvanite, but is this the next step up or just a different type? And what comes after? TQ's manual had info on item quality, but I can't see anything similar in this game's manual or strategy guide! The formula for determining how effective a repair kit is going to be might be useful for the technos of game mechanics, but some indication that trollhide is inferior to Sylvanite is inferior to ? is inferior to ? would be more useful to players. Damn guide gives me the first, but absolutely nothing about the second.

At the moment I've gone back to wearing yellow set stuff and purples, but it doesn't have the nice health and mana regen that I'd put on the trollhide, so looking to see what I should be buying to improve the armour over trollhide that I can then gem up as needed.

Poor Tamon, my whirling dervish build, stood around all day yesterday as my mouse broke just after he'd beaten an Ettin. Left mouse button died and that was the end of doing anything computerwise until hubby came home with a new one.

    Here you go.

Sorry to hear about your old mouse, I can relate to that easy.
