So I'm making a new battlemage, she's only level 4. I was wondering what stats should I mostly put her points into I'm thinking Dex, Strength and health. She's melee so which one should I put the most points into?

when life gives you a grime encrusted boar heart just make some lemonade.
Another Battlemage thread... what is it about that class?
Anyway, for melee that's fine.
In normal you can still use fire spells for damage, even with low int. Later for defense.

Lots of challenges with battlemages. I'd suggest keeping an eye on your defensive ability on this melee build. This one can get awfully squishy if the defensive ability lags behind too much. Start with 150 at the end of act 1 and try keeping it going up by 100 per act after that until the end of Epic. Raising it by 75 per act in legendary should keep you out of melee trouble until the end.
The warfare side of your tree should keep your offensive ability up, but putting points in dexterity will help both the OA and DA values. I suggest you favor "Veteran" affixes on both weapons and armour for these hybrid melee builds. The affixes for veteran gear can keep a melee hybrid toon competitive in hand-to-hand combat.
