not sure which is harder - uber or uberunderlord. Lot of skills have been tweaked in the uberunderlord mod, wondering if they are overpowered

Anyway will take your advice & continue in the other thread. if the challenge fails, will post screenies of my dead hero corpses too LOL

Uber Underlord is easier, especially for melee. Or start with Spirit and enjoy easy ride with powerfull summons.

I recently decided to try Vanilla Uber LOTL/No potion/ Untwinked. Just to see how far i can go. Now lvl 17 Seer in Ambrosos village.

Interesting, how much DA monstere have in Uber? Is it even possible to play melee non-warfare? Harmstring is true Uber skill.

Amazing, you made it this far! How did you manage to escape being slaughtered by mob crowds with no pots? LOTL & untwinked are quite stringent but doable.

About twinking, does it mean anything else other than transferring combat gear?

With the right offensive skills, DA could be less of an issue but guessing it should be slightly higher by a percentage for similar character level. Hybrid melee using non-warfare skills would mostly be hit-and-run tactics. It would be a pain if monsters chase the hero beyond the invisible wall!

It is possible to melee without Warfare,but you would need tons of OA boosting gear lategame-the highest DA I know of is a Dactyl's:520 from dex+~1120 from OA/DA boosters=~1640 DA.But there are several hero monsters(and possibly bosses).So I suggest around 1500 OA lategame.Even a Harbinger has trouble achieving those numbers,a regular one is at ~900.So you need a few Ferocious/Savage/whatever items from the uber orbs to get to 1500.

Also,I suggest boosting str to the req of your highest req piece of gear,and all in dex until you can hit every time or defeat the Telkines,after that,boost str and dex in a ratio of around 3:1(or 2:1 if you're going to twink your SBC,to make up for the super low strength);with a club/sword/axe/shield melee char,I'd say once you get to 400 dex,stop pumping dex and focus on str.500 for spear Hunters,but they have the almighty Flush Out,so they won't need the extra boost from Ferocious/Savage/...

The problem is,Hamstring comes into effect when you hit someone,if you can't hit anything then you won't Hamstring anything.

Twinking means transfering any type of equipment from a char to another one.This
includes:whites,yellows,greens,blues and purples,artifacts and relics.And MI greens.

Also,IMO DA is a lost cause in UBER.With 1300 DA you'll still get critted sometimes,but crits are more of a nuisance,even in Uber(unless there's a Hamstring critter thrown into the mix).So,unless you're going to go to ~1800 DA or even more(~2000 DA,which was the melee immunity step) DA is less noticeable.Even though with Uber gear that kind of DA may be easier to reach.

OTOH,if you're melee,OA must be kept high all the time.

And yes,vanilla Uber is harder than Uber Underlord(unless you choose the 16-sec cooldown one)

I wonder in UBER if DA cannot save the hero at late level, does it mean criticals by legendary bosses are one-shot kills on melee characters? It seems 100% health regen + high health is the only way to survive. In such a case, conqueror builds wouldn't be top notch compared to dream-related builds in uber-mod TQ

DA is good if you can get it to 1.8 k.And I strongly suggest to up it in UL Uber(where crits are up to 3x the normal dmg).HP regen isn't going to save you,instead huge amounts of AdctH will.I'd reccomend around 50% AdctH for Legendary Uber if you can't afford 2,6 k DA+ and 100% CTAP.And as much HP as possible,yes.

But DA in Uber is so hard to get,I'd rather get damage resistance and avoidance(CTAP,Dodge).Esp with Veteran's being so easy to get from Uber Loot(8-15% DR from Vet's equipment+20% DR from Ignore Pain+12% DR from Dionysos relics in uber rings...woot!!!).

Double-or-Nothing is what Uber is built off,just no double-xp,xmax mobs,6x bosses,much stronger orb bosses(esp Charon),and most of all...UBER LOOT

I won't go that far and say crits from leg bosses mean death.Considering my tests had ~6-7k HP(less if I put on my Bloodthorn Leggings of Alacrity) and stood up to some of the 6x bosses just fine with tons of AdctH,I'd say what you're looking for is a uberloot green wpn of the betrayer socketed with a relic with 66% less AS completion bonus.That,and 50%+ AdctH,gave me good staying power.But you must always be on the move.

would have gone for Dreams' ToE aura if AdctH is important!.....yikes I will have to stick with my defender for now....funny how I used to casually ignore DR for Life Leech and now realize the folly....

indeed now it makes sense....DoN in uber is the challenge....alas, my normal hero rarely finds such good loot you speak of....will keep that in mind during the re-runs....

bosses do scare me even on the move...6x is a nightmare and health regen restores a lot of hp on the move in contrast to taking damage.....but you have a valid point! without AdctH, I'll only keep running to my grave

ToE is crap.Try ToC,the 20% damage absorbtion at ultimate level is very useful.ToW is very good in Normal,with a maxed Lucid Dream,but from Normal Act 3 onwards(in Uber) it becomes weaker and weaker.And the resistance reduction is percentage,meaning it won't add much to your damage.And you don't know how useful it is to cut damage in Uber.

You can only find uber loot from orbs.

Unless you can get ~500 HP regen in Normal(or more,like kenpa007's retired diviner,see the original uber thread,~50th page)
HP regen won't help you with all the damage you receive.50 dmg crits from a satyr in Helos..HP regen ain't gonna cut it.

All you need is to hit once.With warfare, you have Weapon Handling, so achieving enough OA to hit is not such a big problem as with Defence/Dream.
Once hit, monster is an easy pray.

I was thinking and deciding betwean Templar and Spellbreaker (Haruspex is out of question as i don't play Hunting, ever. ) Spellbreaker would be awesome build for melee, strongest melee in Uber possibly, but will be weak againts ranged attackers.
Templar can achieve ranged immunity with Quick Recovery (and some -recharge possibly to have it permanent), but going to have problems hitting stuff in melee. Tough choice...

Seer is to become Templar (he is now at level 20 at Phythian Caves). I don't need much energy, maxed ToW and run around monsters, mostly trying to avoid hits. Didn't use Distortion Wave.

You need a pet. And forget about melee, stay ranged. Get a bow/stuff with life leech, with elemental damage for undead.
