help: can't pick up or detect dropped loot

i recently bought and installed Titan Quest gold edition and installed both the main game and immortal throne. i ran update in the setup but i got "no update avalible".

the game runs fine except for the fact that i can't pick up dropped loot, or even detect it. this includes anything that pops out of an opened chest. i havn't played very far into the game since this is kind of a game breaker bug. i searched the net and i can't find anyone else with this issue.

If you are playing TQ : IT you either have to go into options an uncheck "Lock Item Pickup" or use [alt],[x],or [z] to show the item names.

This perplexed me too for a while when I first started playing. I like having the ability to toggle this on or off, not having to hold the button down all the time.
