Ok so I found the Secret Passage and it was frustratingly...

Easy. Way too easy. And, at the end of all this easy-easiness, the chest doesn't open... And I killed everyone! (Even ~V~ a few times ) This is beginning to look like a waste of 2 Hades runs...

You must've missed somebody, Darklightr... maybe one of the little fire imps spawned behind the cage or somesuch nonesense.

I got worried the first time myself, when that damn nightmare-wannabe just... wouldn't... die... permanently! But you don't have to kill him, or Toxeus to open the chest, but everything else must die.

Yes, Darklightr, in the Secret Passage ~V~ is indestructible--you cannot kill him so don't bother with him. You must kill everything else (with an exception, depending upon your toon & skills). Kill everything outside of the cells first, then kill everything in the cells. You're best-served if you have a toon that can attack from outside the cells without opening them. Ranged spells or archery skills from the Hunting mastery (Puncture Shot goes through the cells bars/doors) allow you to stay out of harm's way while annihilating the monsters. The exception is Toxeus, Arthur's second form. If you decide to kill Toxeus, you must be careful in regards to his reflection aura. He will reflect damage back to you, which can kill you if you're not careful. Some people will kill everything except for Arthur, then drop a Monster Lure just as Arthur's first form is about to expire. This (sometimes) causes Toxeus's form to focus on the ML, allowing you to raid the treasure chest. If the ML is dropped near Toxeus's cell, you'll be out of his aggro range when you're raiding the chest. However, in my experience, Toxeus doesn't always want to go after the ML, so it's a bit hit-and-miss with that tactic, although it's a way to grab the loot without having to kill Toxeus, who is simply a very cheeky little monkey, particularly in higher difficulties of the SP (and obviously, you must open the cell door to use the ML tactic).

So, if the chest didn't open for you, you obviously didn't kill everything (~V~ not included as he won't die).

You don't need to kill the giant Fury nor David the Centaur archer. You can just run past them and still get the Chest. I'm guessing you missed one of the Fire Imps or maybe the mini-Hydra in the last cage. It hides away in the corner and generally won't come out to attack you unless provoked. So it's quite easy to miss.

Hm. Wasn't aware of that. I've run the SP plenty of times but always felt as if I were neglectful of my duties as a Hero of the Free World if I passed on the opportunity to shed those creatures of their mortal coils. Toxeus, however... I finally tried the ML tactic with my Epic Warden (because three consecutive times she accidentally opened the door to Toxeus' cell while firing arrows through it). Toxeus ignored the ML many times and my Warden was reduced to running like a headless chicken, all the while setting ML after ML until one caught Toxeus' attention. Once that happened, I was able to raid the treasure chest. I'd have rather slain the guy, but didn't want to close range and melee him, and kiting him with a bow was an exercise in futility. I did, however, FINALLY land my first pair of Athena's Battle Greaves from the SP chest with that toon, so, despite the ML follies, it was worth it.

I got it on my second run. And hot damn it gives me a lot of loot! Found four relics and a rare on my first try! Though, I'll admit, the rare could've been a little better

I hope to land a few non-set uniques while running SP. I'm missing quite a few at the moment

@ Darklightr -- I never found anything worthwhile in Normal SP except for some relics. Epic SP is much better to farm (as well as Legendary SP). My best Epic SP run allotted me four purples and two blues from one chest, along with some relics. The only bad aspect of farming the SP is some of the silly Easter Egg sets that drop that I've never used. Sure, they're usable, but I'd feel silly running around ancient Greece wearing a Santa hat or cowboy boots or Sherlock Holmes' trenchcoat or a pirate suit. I made sure I collected all the sets but they're just stowed away in the Vault as collector's items.
