I like the idea of a command line hack and slash, do not forget to have the command, "pick up all useless crap" to just get all the brokens...

maybe you could implement a "run away" too, while your at it. In hardcore mode you could make it something like "ambulate the **** away from current location with the fastest possible speed, before I am rendered too low on health to survive" so that slow typists will get nailed.

Yeah, you're probably right. It's just a feature that gets put into a lot of games without anyone really thinking about why it's there. It actually had a point in Diablo (cursed items) and somehow never got too annoying, but then was a complete waste of everyone's time in the sequel. Still, I feel that there's something interesting to be done with the idea, all it needs is for somebody with nothing better to do to come up with a way for it to work without it becoming irritating.
I guess that's why I have so many random ideas; I have nothing better to do...

Hey thanks for explaining the ID-ing everyone. Guess it's a way to add more complexity to the game but tedious and un-necessary, I dunno, all I can say is that Titan Quest had the right idea IMO. Yeah I like the idea of interesting history displayed for items but indeed would much rather have more unique items!
