Meh, who cares what it is? It'll give you an advantage, but the game's really lacking in features and needs modders if the game wants to live on, so..

I think that basically, you will end up playing with a skill set that is from one of the original classes. But with this cheat=mod you choose your mesh and then develop your class as you choose. I like the idea better than saying, "ok this toon will use melee" from the start.
I hope some good mods come out before too long. I just bought this game and I must say, as fun as it is, it's pretty shallow. Someone else said it better than I did when they referred to the game as an engine first and a game second.
Luckily I heard there's a project on the Runic forums to remake the Necromancer (and possibly others) from Diablo 2 for Torchlight.![]()
Mhhh... I asked because I don't want to waste my time doing a mod that works like a cheat for a game that, as a matter of fact, starts being hard in mid VH.
I guess I'll go for it and see how it plays out. It'd sure need rebalancing though, because to work as I want it, all skills should aim for good useability, and every skill should offer good reasons to choose it over another skill... Meh. Smells like work.
Lol, to unite all skills on a char, I'd either need to add a new pane in skill selection, or add a new column, or add new rows.
From what I've seen so far, all of this should be possible, but none of it is easy. :/
I have good news too though.
I used my moderate GIMP skills to improve the look of the UI, making everything look smoother, considerably increasing the size of the related texture files... and it worked.Me likes it. Now I feel tempted to modify all textures- especially the city cries for love.
Triple post!
I'm currently spending some serious time reworking the entire skill system, based on my idea to give all classes access to every skill. Instead of heavily modding the GUI, I decided to simply remove a few click'n'damage skills. Although one or two will reappear on high level pets.
Pets are a pain in the *** to create btw., even worse than TQ. It needs one file per creature, one layout file per creature, and a single skill-file that merges everything. Meh. I'm raising all skills to lvl. 15. A golem lvl.15 summon skill needs to include unsummon skills for all golems from 1-14. Mirror this system to the entire golem skill and you'll end up mindfucked.
And TorchED is a whore. I'm doing virtually everything with Texteditor.
Good news is, though, that I'll probably be able to add skill trees.TorchED includes such options, but for some reasons the devs didn't use it.
I miss ArtManager.

Kira, you might have missed the memo but basically, TL is a diversion. You were supposed to play it just long enough to ache for TQ again, and then get back to work modding TQ. Modding TL is a waste of your time, the game is a dead end.
Nah, I'll not touch TQ again until Underlord is out.And since no one can say whether it's published tomorrow or next month, I need something to do, ya know?
Edit: How come my post above wasn't censored?
...
Awesome.

Done. Since you asked for it
I agree with both
I'm also awaiting for Underlord before I start on TQ again (I've just formatted and installed Windows 7 and still have all my modding files stored on a friend's computer).
TL is fun, but it's too shallow and too limited. The basic game desperately needs modders though...
