    Argh,I meant another tone of orange. Does anyone remember that evil orange carried by those DiabloII- items you created with the Horadric Cube only? I love this colour.

    Items with relics socketed in them are also orange.

    I'm not sure if we can add any new colors to the game perhaps someone with an ounce of programing skill (since I have none) can tell us that.

    Since I've never played Diablo II I will have to take your word for it.

    The next question would be if already socketed items are also Orange, does this mean that the game will not let you socket any item that is Orange because it thinks it already is socketed.

    For reference Orange is actually my favorite color so if all the variables work out I would not be opposed.

    That's a good question, though... it may be impossible. Or ridiculously difficult. Or easy. I'll ask the art manager. But I'm afraid it needs more than my "ounce"....

    I'm 99,9% sure that this is no problem. MIs and regular greens share the colour, but the game is able to make a difference between them. Colour itself is no "switch" that determines an items characteristics, it's a "result". (Hope I put it understandable...)

    Let's hope your right. My thought was that since the game turns any item that is socketed to Orange irregardless of its start color, that it might attribute the color Orange to items that are already socketed.

    Re: Item Colors

    Lol, my research gave me the these results:

    1. Changing colours of item groups (common, rare, epic...) will not cause problems. Make 'em all white if you wish, game mechanics will not suffer. It should not even be too difficult, since one just needs to change a few colour values ("Blue" is 0,6/0,6/0,6 RGB for example).

    2. Changing colours of MIs only, however, seems impossible, since they're classified as regular "rare" with different loottables and stats, but still rare. And if I got it right, the classification determines the textfont. If one created a new MI-classification with different style and makes the game read it somehow, it'd work. But that's waaaaaay to difficult imho.

    (Hope no one proves me completely wrong... )

    Lol, things are getting off topic btw.

    If someone is very brave, he/she could ask munder if he included new colours for mythic items. However, I wouldn't do it, since he seems to be really angry atm, and that for a good reason. Better let him chillax.

    That answers the Monster Infrequent question so now we can evaluate the main question of this thread which is what prefixes and affixes need to have their status adjusted either increased to Rare or Decreased to Common Magical.

    I really don't think anyone's gonna get upset for you asking a simple question...

    Too bad about the MI thing, really would make my day if Gorgon Cuffs were.... BLACK. Would make them a whole lot easier to spot after slaying 36 gorgons....

    Munderbunny's response to my question,

    "I have mythic items red right now; as they don't drop, they'll never be confused for health potions. However, the way I've done it is to use a color code in the item name itself. It works fine for items without affixes, but the affix itself gets assigned a color code. So, if you have a rare prefix, the game will make it green, until it gets to item name, at which point you change the color code with the name of your item, so the name will be 2-colored.

    Some coding to one of the dlls could fix that by allowing a new rarity type. Otherwise, a work-around for monster infequents (which is what I think this is in reference to), would be to copy all the affix tables into a new set called monster affixes (or whatever). Then just do a mass find and replace on the monster items to point to the monster affix tables (something jiaco could do in like 5 minutes). Then you need to copy all the tagstrings for them and put the color code in front of each name (find replace "=" --> "=^r"). I recommend doing like qtag<whatever> as the name, so you can also just do a find/replace "tag" with "qtag" on the MI items themselves. And then you have a new color for monster infrequents.

    Heh, now you make me want to do that for occult, lol. But, there are a limited number of visually viable colors set in the game. I'm not using red because it's my favorite, I'm using it because the other unused options don't look good. I'm using fuscia for the easter egg items (if you look at Uber, bloodthorn is red and malevolent is fuscia)."

    Thanks for the reply Munder, so we now know it is possible just difficult and time consuming. We also now know that their is a limited number of text colors that look good. I for one don't want pink items.

    But changing the color of Monster Infrequents may be a viable option for the Balance Patch

    Re: Item Colors

    This has been discussed a couple of times, though I don't know what happened to these topics; anyway, I came to the conclusion that it's probably smart to leave the MI's green and rather change the colors of the rare affixes. Since green is quite different (as MI's are different from regular equipment), I opt for orange - sure, it might be used by relics, but that's not something I see as a problem. They're rare enough to be visible, and often valuable enough to pick up.

    As for the other thing;
    Exalted can definetely be in my list of suck.
    Succor is crap too

    However, good yellows that should be green are;
    Unhindered, Unshackled, Un... (another variation on feet equipment).
