Ternion is the way to go, since it's AoE and affects more enemies at once AND you can add some side effect of your choice (stun, mana leech) since you're heavily based on -res.
Actually, you could do all of that with knives. They also hit all enemies because they pierce them, and even add bleeding. You would have to get those effects from another source than your weapon, but in turn you get to choose another mastery that helps your Poison with more -resists, like Storm, or your defenses.

P.S.: And if the poison fails you after all, you can still turn him into a Taser.

Yes,that is true, but Throwing Knife has recharge time, Ternion doesn't and Flurry Of Knives requires me to rush Rogue skill tree. I'd have to wear -recharge gear and not Desecrated/Profaned/Defiled. It is a possible build, but different from what I had in mind
I read all of your guides and I like them very much,it's just I like to find my own style of playing

True, it has a cooldown. Otoh, you do not need to attack that often when using poison (and not lightning, that was just a plan B), even less than our electric burner here. A single Archmage's Clasp should suffice - and even helps your poison.
That's what I had in mind. But of course, you do what you like best.

Ah, the fabled Archmage Set... I have like 10 of each part (head, legs & torso) but I never managed to get the Clasp... It's the only item I actually farmed for but it never popped up

I've been playing a similar character, but using nature as the secondary and not focusing on sleep. Going petless and focusing on the buffs and debuffs in nature, which seem to work well with a dream caster.

Still in normal and kicking butt, but it will be interesting to see if the damage can keep up in legendary.

    Sure, Nature works fine too.
The damage increase from Plague is about just as effective as SP, and the slow combines nicely with DW.
The catch is that you really can't use sleep at the same time, therefore I didn't include it... but double slow should suffice.

I never tried a build like this but you might wanna try other ideas on gear, depending on your attribute distribution:

If you go STR not only you can get a shield but you can also equip Visor of the Shadowlord with 50% EBD and a bunch of resists and DA.
If you wanna go pure INT (DREAM+STORM AoE focus) instead of Soulflay (needs DEX and STR) you can use a staff like Sakur-Aba. Just vaulted one of these to get space :P
Rings and amulets with % INT are also a great boost and are not hard to get. Stuff like Socrates/Plato, of Divination.

Edit: Just noticed I forgot about Glykon Acolyte's Robe xD

I appreciate your input, but going strength with this build is not recommended.
While Dream grants some strength, which makes it easy to meet the requirement for the Fork and some shields, losing 300+ points of base Int will have a far greater impact on your damage than the Visor could remedy.

In fact, no headgear beats a good green with Odysseus relic for damage. But if you did wear the Carnus helm with another set part, it would grant +50% EBD too.

how about this build with a maxed out lich (and nothing else from that mastery) set on agressive?

do the damage over time from wave & reality stack (probably not )?
