    Young Adult Books

Lately I have went way off track from what I usually read: Old scary horror novels, thrillers, and fantasies to young adult books.

I have found some of them interesting like Cirque Du Freak: The Saga of Darren Shan , Skulduggery Pleasant, and The Sweep Series.

    Cirque Du Freak http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Saga_of_Darren_Shan
Darren Shan's an ordinary schoolboy, until he and his best friend Steve get tickets to the Cirque Du Freak, a bizarre freak show featuring such arcane performers as Hans Hands, Gertha Teeth, the Wolf Man and Rhamus Twobellies. In the midst of the ghoulish excitement, true terror raises its head when Steve recognises that one of the performers -- Mr Crepsley -- is in fact a vampire!
These books exceeded my expectations totally. I really like the way it is written and it's becoming a really big thing. There is a movie for the first trilogy coming out next year. (Vampire Blood: Cirque Du Freak, The Vampire's Assistant, and Tunnels of Blood) There is also going to be a Manga series made which might be interesting.

    Sweep http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sweep_series:
The heroine, Morgan Rowlands, discovers that she is a "blood witch" and learns that she must battle dark magick. As the series progresses, Morgan comes into contact with not only a truly remarkable set of characters but many problems that teens face today.
This series just totally blew me away. It was so awesome and I've read it more than once and have recommended it to like everyone. It mixes every day high school life with supernatural problems. Morgan Rowlands finds out she is a "blood witch" and that she is adopted. She faces many problems and it just such an awesome book series.

    Skulduggery Pleasant http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sweep_series:
I just started reading this series and so far it is pretty awesome. It is pretty original and the second of nine books was released recently. I can't wait to finish them both!

Hehe. I'm 21 and I still read young adult books.

I can also strongly recommend anything by Christopher Pike. He did a bunch of pretty gory vampire novels i used to absolutely love.

I'm currently reading more serious books, but if you can get your hands on it, the most addictive series i've read is John Marsden's "tomorrow, when the war began". He's an Aussie childrens writer, but i've never met anyone who put down that novel without wanting the next one.
    What apple?
Then and than are different words.

    For me:

Cherub series by Robert Muchamore. I did a review on the first one a while back.

Young Bond series by Charlie Higson. These are cheesy, exactly like Bond should be. Great books imo.

Boy Soldier series by And McNabb. Written by an ex-SAS member. Brilliant.

Maximum Ride series by James Patterson. Flying teenagers that know how to fight and have other special powers? I'm there!

Keys to the Kingdom series by Garth Nix. Great books. Bit weird at times. If you liked Sabriel, these have similarities.

If you'd like me to review any of the books from these series' just ask

I'm just wondering, what can you learn from a young adult book?

I read classic fiction. There are some real freaky stories that were written by E. F. Benson before the 1900s. They are now free because of Project Gutenberg. The story Catepillar or The Other Bed were scary.
