What am I supposed to do with all this gold??

I bought the Titan Quest bundle for 20 bucks on Direct2Drive yesterday.

I am Hunter/Nature build, almost level 12 and have reached Delphi, and carrying about 210k Gold. I rarely find a bow for sale that is better than what I got. Same for armor and rings. Actually most armor on sale I can't wear because I lack strength or intelligence for it. I almost always have a surplus of health and energy potions collected from combat. So what am I accumulating this much gold for? What uber stuff is there to buy with it further on? (no Storyline Spoilers please)

Well, equipment gets more and more expensive and you can buy better equipment later on... and good equipment is ridiculously expensive.

You can also use money to reallocate skillpoints. You can use it to buy expensive scrolls and remove relics from items (which can be very, very expensive).

Though I wouldn't recommend collecting every possible penny you can in the game, gold has its purposes.

the merchants keep getting better and more expensive stuff. But i rarely buy something of them...
You shouldn't put any points in int, because your a ranger and you should go with bow, so most points in dex and str...
Most good items will be blue/ green from monsters. Sometimes merchants have some good stuff...

Look at the color of the text for items. Occasionally you'll find some green things. You'll notice it takes only one prefix or suffix to make it a green item, so it becomes extra powerful if it has two. Even in the part of the game you're at, a nice green item with both affixes can cost nearly half a million gold! Sometimes the vendor items are better than the stuff you find in the field, so it's always worth it to check all their merchandise out. Especially the rings and amulets, there are so many for sale each time, the chance of finding something great is high. Hale ring of Immortality, anyone? You can buy green items to twink your other characters too.

Also, don't forget - expanding caravan storage and creating artifacts will cost you.

Farm some shops for a while. They occasionally have good green items. If you just progress through the game and visit every shop only 1-2x, you're unlikely to spend that much gold on the items.

Slightly off-topic, do you guys actually pick up gold? I just let lay on the ground, never pick it up after I exit Helos. Selling items is way more profitable.

    every penny counts
i use one toon to farm and he picks up every bit of gold lying around and accumulates uber amounts of bling, so i just use that toon to create artifacts with (and some of em artifacts cost quite a bit to create)

Well, I pick it up but that's more compulsory - I can't ignore it... must... have.. it...

I want a mod that doesn't show gold below 10k.

I don't bother unless it's a significant pile. The time I'd spend picking up change could be better spent killing and selling the items that drop for greater profit.

The system in Sacred is very nifty, hit one button (A) and the character runs around picking up all the gold and items off the ground from the enemies you've just slain. The system in Hellgate: London is even better, each character seems to have a 'gold magnet' or something, when they walk close enough to gold, it gets pulled in towards them and added to their total - no extra animation, no time wasted, you can continue fighting and effortlessly vaccuum up the cash.

Now THOSE are some innovations! I love these games, but certain aspects of them can get terribly tedious.

Re: What am I supposed to do with all this gold??

I use gold all the time now for relic removal and skill-point reassignment. If I have a bunch of extra money, I might go shop farming for a good ring or amulet (you can get some really really good jewelry from vendors later on). But, you really don't need to spend any money to beat the game. You could just play with what you pick up through all 3 difficulty levels if you wanna be like a macgyver or something.

When I went through the game on single player the first time, I never shopped except occassionally for potions and weapons. I think I used that skill dude like twice. I never ran out of money. I didn't know you could sell back to venders for full price if you haven't left the inventory screen yet, so nothing really looked good to me, and as a result, I ended up using a reckless khandar of power (a sword) I got on normal, act II, all the way into Epic difficulty.

check the jewelry in higher level merchants too. Sometimes theyve got some dope mods that you would have missed out on.
