Thread: Can't find a full Harbinger guide. Please help.

  1. #81
So last night Me and a friend started new heroes and I decided to make Harbinger!
Now I'm level 17 just arrived in Herakleion and things are looking pretty good so far Here is how I invested skill points so far:

2 level - weapon mastery 1 point , 1 point weapon training and 1 point battle rage.
    3 level - 3 weapon training
4 level - 2 point weapon training (max) and 1 point weapon mastery
    5 level - 3 point weapon mastery
6 level - 1 point weapon mastery and 2 point dual weapons
    7 level - 3 points dual weapons
At level 8 I skipped the new mastery and put 1 point on onslaught and 2 points on battle rage
At this point I had very sturdy looking warrior
Level 9 again skip new mastery and put 2 more points at onslaught and 1 on battle rage
Level 10 again skip new mastery and put 1 more point at battle rage thus making it 5 in total and the other 2 points on weapon mastery.

    From here enter the Harbinger
Level 11 - 1 point on dream mastery and 1 point on psionic touch and 1 point on sands of sleep.
Here I had a little surprise.By my opinion it turned out that psionic touch is making better job than onslaught.
And since we arrived at Delphi and there was mystic there i recover 2 point from onslaught and relocated them on psionic touch.

After that i put some more points on dream mastery , weapon mastery , and few other skills arriving at Herakleon as Demigod...For now

The other skills that i invested in are:
    War wind - 1 point
    Hew - 3 point
    Crushing blow - 2 points
    Lucid dream - 2 points
    Phantom strike - 3 points
1 point that I had on sands of sleep i recovered because it turned out pointless by having bad ass Oracle as second side of the party :0

    Equipment:
Here I loud like to point out two things:
1 - We are having one hell of a luck whit the Items that are dropping for example the Obsidian bracers and breastplate which we found near the gorgons. The two set items are giving me some sweet bonuses to resists and some life not to mention defense.
2 - I personally am using set of two fine blades that i took from a previous hero:
Heartpierce + Patroclus' Shortblade which to great extend are responsible for my might in attack.

    Stats:
    Average damage - 107
    As - 144 %
    DPS - 154

I'm looking forward to see how will things turn out later in the game!

Suggestions: drop Psionic Touch, Onslaught is better overall. Only 1 point in Battle Rage as it's not that good, better to get up to Battle Standard and Triumph (Triumph points only if using the fanpatch). Don't max your early skills (Onslaught being the exception), you want to get to the top of the mastery/ies to increase damage and survivability. Don't forget your Trances; both Empathy and Convalescence will affect your partner/pets as well while Wrath only affects you.

I'd agree with Medea generally. For Harbinger, I think the mid-level skills are important to get early - Battle Standard, ToC, Dream Stealer are keys for smooth and powerful progression.

With so many good skills (the entire Onslaught and Dual Wield trees, the Lucid Dream tree, Phantom Strike/Dream Stealer, DR/TR, Battle Standard/Triumph, and so on), it's also recommended to get any +skills items you can. Right now, the only thing you can aim for is Stonebinder's Cuffs in the Minotaur Labyrinth. But come Act III, you should also visit the vendors regularly to try and score a Divine amulet or Hallowed helm.

You will find necklaces/amulets that provide +1 or +2 to a specific mastery as well as the Divine one Irma2 mentioned, and these are equippable from level 12, Divine is at level 18. Also some weapons, yellow and green, can be a +1 to a specific mastery, but they're quite rare drops, at least for me.

No, one point in the base skill and one in Hypnotic Gaze is enough.

Congrats on beating Typhon, but why hamper yourself? No points in Onslaught tree (Onslaught itself should be maxed by the time you reach the big guy), no points in Battle Standard tree. If you'd maxed Onslaught, got some points in Battle Standard and Triumph and a point in Colossus Form you might not have needed to run around. You've many skills available that you aren't using yet. Why did you decide to build your character as you have? Not a criticism, you've beaten Typhon with it. I'm curious as I always like to hear why players decide to play in particular ways.

@Irma2 - Ooops, thinking Defense instead of Warfare. Brain's obviously not in gear this morning!

@BlackKnight88 - You are playing with the bugfix fanpatch installed, aren't you? If not then Triumph will not be worth putting any points into as it doesn't work properly without the patch.
