How to transfer characters?

While on vacation I developed a new TQ character on my laptop and now want to transfer it to my mainframe, is there a way to do this?

Copy the save game files of that character then use TQdefiler to make it work. SoulSeeker should be around shortly to explain how I'm sure.

Defiler shouldn't be necessary if you used the same DVD to install the game on both machines.

I would have had first reply, but was busy and couldn't type it yet, firstly...do you have TQ or IT? (And if you only have TQ, are they the same CD-Key?)

First, you'll have to copy the "C:\Documents and Settings\[username]\My Documents\My Games\Titan Quest - Immortal Throne\SaveData\_[charName]" folder from the one computer with the characters to the other.

The only issue you may have is the caravan. If you move everything from that character to the inventory first, then no problem...you'll lose your upgrades to that caravan but that's it, if you have too many things or don't want to lose the upgrades then you'll have to download the Defiler. After downloading, and right after you have copied that character (but before you run the game at all), run the Defiler and click the 'Fix All Caravan Files' button. After that you should be good to go!

I have a problem with char transfer, too. I see the solution here, but I have one question. Could the Defiler break my chars (I haven't good experience with programs like this from Diablo 2)? Thx.

If you backup this folder:
"C:\Documents and Settings\[username]\My Documents\My Games\Titan Quest - Immortal Throne\SaveData"

You'll have a safe backup of all your characters, shared storage, quest data, etc. that you can simply copy back over if something goes wrong, as long as you make a copy of that folder you won't have anything to worry about. As always, make a backup yourself (even though the Defiler makes one for each specific change you can do) before modifying your character to be on the safe side.
