Quite right Zking. Not only do you possibly miss out on gear, in Normal you miss out on the opportunity boost XP and gain levels. I always clear every area when playing Normal as this is the difficulty where you will level up most in the entire game, i.e. L1 to L40 for Normal, only L40 to L55-L56 in Epic and my Conqueror finished Legendary at L60. Admittedly he only did the main and side quests in Epic and Legendary, which is how I usually play the game, but even with a clear all areas policy on all 3 difficulties you won't level up much more later in the game. And facing Normal Typhon at L28 because you've not cleared everywhere as opposed to meeting him at L31-L33 when you have will make a BIG difference in how well you can deal with him.
You don't need mules, you need to download the TQVault then you can store all your goodies easily. It's in the Tools section of the forum. You can create multiple vaults giving each a different name of your choosing. I have about 30 at the moment. It can't be accessed in-game, but it is easy to move stuff to/from characters or caravan once you're in the Vault itself.

It's harder because it's difficult to put attribute points into strength, dexterity and intelligence and still have a viable character by the end of Legendary. It's recommended to decide how you want to play a hybrid character like a Battlemage. You either go for the physical side putting points into strength and dexterity, ignoring intelligence entirely except for what you get for maxing Earth mastery or you go for elemental damage, in which case you put most points into intelligence and dexterity with only enough into strength to be able to equip the melee weapons/gear you want to use.
