First time facing Typhon...why Outsider dies?

Finally brought my Soothsayer (just Spirit pets) up there and defeated Typhon (first try) even though it took 40 minutes and 6 pauses of the game so I could rest. It was quite annoying and tedious and he dropped absolutely nothing useful, not one green.

One of the main reasons for the annoyance has to be this instant kill of my Outsider. It is level 3 (1300 health?) it would run over and about a second later it was dead. The timer felt like a day up there and I only used it 4 times (kept hoping it would do something) but it would just walk up and die. I had Heart of Oak on so I thought that would have helped.

The lich fared slightly better but he felt compelled to stand under each meteor attack.

This is probably the worst character ever to face him with a whopping 255 in dps with some bleeding and energy, life-leech from the staff, 1600health and no resistance over 45. So if she can do it, anyone can! Combined armor was 130! Attack speed 93%. Drank 70 potions, had 5 left when he fell.

the easiest way to take typhon down with a spirit pet built is to get necrosis and just run around typhon while your pets do huge vitality damage.

Oh ok I was running around close zapping him with ternion (right after fire breath) but kept losing the deathchill aura when my energy was drained and was mainly using ternion, Liche and tried life drain (don't think it worked). I think I have 1 pt in necrosis but I'll keep that in mind. But at least I know what I'm in for now, have 3 other characters on their way.

Maybe Typhon had his thorns on while the Outsider was trying to do his thing.

I took Typhon out with a Soothsayer by hiding behind one of the statues while my Liche King and Nymph lit him up. The statue on the immediate right as you enter the arena worked best for me. I'd left click on the Liche King portrait and tell him to stand clear of the statue to my left and the nymph on my right. If you stand far enough away, you don't have to worry about the life leeching aura he puts out. You just have to watch for the falling rocks and then reposition after running from them.

The wolves were less than useless against Typhon. I reallocated my skill points into the nymph and LK before the attack.

The outsider is a good as he is because he is immune or almost immune to just about everything.
He is not immune or even very resistant to vitality and elemental damage.

And the favorite damage types of bosses everywhere are?
    Vitality and elemental.

I wish I knew how this guy got a "boss-killer" reputation.
He is only good against bosses if the lich is around to debuff them for him.
    Apocalypse - lvl66 - conjurer
    Ajax - lvl71 - conqueror
    Artemis - lvl41 - ranger (corrupted , R.I.P)
    Penelope - lvl63 - brigand
