So I was reading the questions that people have posted in Philip's thread. And suddenly I realized how little about properties of items. So here are some of my questions that I figure some of you have the answers for (so I don't clutter up Philip's thread with my stupid questions)

1. For items that give you extra skills. Like say +1 for all nature skills. What if I don't have nature mastery? Would I still benefit from this bonus? E.g. my character is a rogue/warfare guy, would using the equipment give me access to some spells in the nature tree?

2. Are there any skills that have equipment requirements? Ie. are there any skills that will only activate when you are using chain mail armor, or leather armor. Or two handed axe?
If so, could we mix and match different equipment type so that we can gain access to all the various skills?

thanks much

I think...

1. Nope

2. I think someone said that warwind for the warrior has to have an axe or sword equipped for it to work. I am sure though that there are Hunter skills that require the spear, Takedown, or bow, all bow skills.

Someone correct me if I am wrong.

1. There are items which grant a skill and items which add levels to one skill or all skills in a tab. The first mentioned will allow you to use a skill, supposingly at level 1 (unless otherwise stated). I also doubt a granted skill gets a bonus from a +skill item (but this is only my guess). I'am pretty sure items who raise one more skills by some points are useless without having the mastery by yourself.

2. In addition to frankenparrots answer: the shield-skills, the stun-chance from the passiv skill in defense, or the advantages from the passive skills in warfare and hunting, the blade honing aura of the rogue.
I havent see a skill who had a armor requirement, and i havent seen different armor types like leather or mail.
