Doors won't unseal in Chang'an

Now, either I'm missing something really obvious and I'm rather dumb, or something's not quite right...

I've spoken to the emperor, telling me to find Typhon through the portal. Fine, great. Go through the swampy place, rescue the sister, then get to the city. But the door into the city just says 'Sealed by Quest' and I cannot continue. When teleporting into the city itself, it says the same for the door that was previously sealed as well.
Why hasn't going to see the emperor unsealed these doors? I've now been on both sides of the Jing'he river valley door into Chang'an, so it being sealed seems really rather odd.

I think I had this problem also. Crossed a bridge and killed a few Oger types a some plants, ran to the gate and it was sealed. So I ported inside it, then went and talked to the girl who says something about .. whatever it was.. And you leave through a different gate. ( not the one you ported over )
Anyways this is what I did and it worked for me, hope it helps you.

Porting inside and talking to Feyjan should work, I think...But the gate should be unlocked, too :-P

Thanks for the replies,
I've tried talking to everyone related to the quest at least two times now, and still none of the gates are unlocked.
In the quest log, the last piece of dialogue says 'Seek out the emperor', however, I have at least three times and he's told me to seek the Telkine through the portal.
Feiyan just says 'So much depends on you. Fight Bravely!' which is really helpful when it won't let me =P

Yes, the door that allows you to progress on toward the mountain is unlocked by the guard standing near it. The door leading back toward the Yellow Emperor however remains locked. At least, that's the *bug* as I've encountered it.

This happens to me so frequently that I no longer even go to the Jinghe gate in Chang-an. I just complete the Three Sisters quest in the wetlands and portal back to the city because the gate remains locked 3 out of 4 times.

Has it got anything to do with the quest to kill alll the statues inside the town?. That is still unticked on mine. I cant find anymore to kill. Ive done the mauseleum quest ok.

nah it's just a bug, happens more often than not ... just portal back into chang'an ... the door actually unlocks after you talk to the chick inside if it hasn't done already (useless, but there you go ;) )

I'm 100% sure this is caused by people joining your game and killing Typhon. This changes Feiyan's dialogue from updating the quest to wishing you luck in the final battle.

It's happened to me on 3 characters now.

Yes Kamix that could be right as I have the same problem and somebody killed Typhon while I was only in Act 2.
The only way I could fix it was to get to the next portal in mp.

I took a look at the quest logic with one of our quest guys.

According to the quest files, if you're in a party with someone that kills the Act 3 Telkine (Ormenos) before you've unlocked the doors, it would complete the quest and the NPC's will no longer have the correct tokens/dialogue to open up the gates in Chang An.

Is there anyone who is seeing this issue who has never stepped into a multiplayer game?

Well, you have to distinguish the two different cases which are discussed in this thread.

The first one being the door to changan is sealed, but you can teleport into changan and open the outgoing door after talkin to Feiyan. This case seems to be common, and already happened to me in Single Player mode without ever entering a multiplayer game with this exact character.

The other case is when both doors are sealed, and you cant unlock the second door because Feiyan doesnt have the right state. This seems to be connected to multiplayer matches where someone triggers an event which changes Feiyans state.

Feiyan is not connected to the outgoing door (toward Wusao Barrens) whatsoever. Talking to the gate guard only checks to see that you've interacted with the Yellow Emperor - if you have, he'll open the gate.

I'm still unclear how the Jinghe River Valley gate stays closed though - it should be opened up as soon as Quest XIII is complete. Quest XIII completes as soon as you talk to the Yellow Emperor.

As I said above, I believe this is due to someone in a mp game killing Ormenos. If one person completes Quest XIV before the other player gets to talk to the Yellow Emperor, and they aren't able to recieve the token for talking to him, and both gates won't open.

I have this problem on my Summoner. The Jinghe River door is locked, as is the guarded gate door. Talking to Feiyan does nothing. This is a single player game. This character has only otherwise been in a multiplayer game with a level 1 character to trade items.

I think the problem may have been caused by my summon canceling the dialog with the yellow emperor. :/

EDIT: Talked to the yellow emperor again and I can get through the guarded gate. I think that might have been my mistake though since I'm not 100% sure I tried the door the first time. But Jinghe River door is still closed, although it doesn't matter now.

I might miss something, but did you leave Jade Palace trough caves? This road will lead you into Chang'an trough swamps (I think) and you shall continue through second Chang'an gate to Forest of Ancients and Wusao Barrens. ;)

My last group was the left of the quest giver, in a small courtyard, just up from there.

Maybe all that is needed is making sure you have killed all the groups.

After reading this thread, I have had to portal in to chang'an every time now, the outer door is locked (the second quest door will open, however), after I talk to the guard).

And since I'm playing single player on an internet-free computer, I am 100% sure that it ISN'T caused by someone killing Typhon.

I think maybe you are right.
I'm playing single player game, I have never stepped into a multiplayer game. But, I can't open the Jinghe River door. However, I found there was a terra cotta warrior I hadn't killed, but I just could not finish him, because he was walking in the river, and I just couldn't reach him.

Just encountered this problem and i've never set food in a multiplayer game. Pretty sure I read all the yellow emperor dialog properly as well.

Guess I'll just port inside anyway, can't be bothered running back to him.

I've seen the first problem and never played multiplayer. I could not get from the swamp back into Chang'an; I had to portal. I then talked to the quest giver, and could then get out into the locked courtyard on the right.

It seems to be abug where the river gate (After Yellow empiror) stays shut for some reason, this happen every time. Though the other gate opens alright for me.

I'm at the part where I need to GET TO the yellow emperor. I killed every terra cotta soldier in the city, and I've talked to every person in the city, Feyan a bunch of times. Both gates are still locked. What the hell am i supposed to do.

I had this happen on 1.15 a week or so ago. I was having trouble killing the Yerren tribesmen, so sort of ran through that area without killing everything, then couldn't get through the locked gate.

So, I went back and killed everything, but still couldn't go through the gate. So, I walked back to the last portal ( i didn't know about the town portal thing, i'm an idiot ), then went to changan, and continued with the game and eventually killed typhon.

At this point both portals are supposed to be sealed.

There is another exit from the city through a broken section of the city wall. It leads into farmlands south of the city where you have to follow a winding path through gaps in the terraces of the rice fields. It may look like a dead end, if not explored carefully.

There does seem to be a bug where the Jinghe gate does not open, but you should be able to portal back to Chang An.

However, I have to clarify one point, because many people seem to get confused.

The Yellow emporer is NOT the Jade emporer. The terra cotta side quest is for the yellow emporer which is not part of the main quest. The Jade Emporer is in the palace after you kill the BULL. Talking to the jade emporer should unlock the JingHe gate and then talking to FeiYan in Chang An will unlock the second gate.

Up until now everything has gone in sequence. You would do this and that would happen, etc. This is a little off the beaten path. You do this first and then do that. It's a bit confusing, because everything up until then went according to plan. I don't think it's a bug, but it sure gives you a reason to come here.

There are two doors. They are both marked quest. I know the one door not with the guard, I ended up taking the long way around. I went back the way I came, and instead of taking the obvious road I took a short cut. Or maybe it was when I did the sister quest. I can't remember now, but I ended up in that little room, that I couldn't get at. BTW: There is not much to be had there.

The door with the guard I can't remember what exactly you have to do, but I think you have to talk to the Jade Emperor first. Anyways in your quest log it says to talk to Feiyan, and the gate will open. At first the guard will refuse, saying 'it's the last line of defence against the monsters'. After you talk to Feiyan, the guard says 'if you insist', and opens the gate.
You can continue on from there.

I guess I'll go fishin in the streams in the area to pass the time until the hinges rust and the doors fall open!

I'm about 99.9% sure I did, I'll check when I get home, I had a problem with her at the Athens Harbor also, so went multiplayers to get the next port, might have to do the same here to get to the next one.....Or just start again and hopefully it works for me.

Very simple. Portal to Chang-an, talk to Feiyan. Go to the Forest of the Ancients door, and talk to the guy standing guard. He will unlock the gate. The other door, however, I have no idea about.
