Just got my level 47 Sage though Epic and I thought i'd do some Typhon runs, but it takes me so long to kill him, 5-7 mins, my damage just seems so weak.

Maybe its my gear, or possibly my build (http://www.titancalc.com/TitanCalc.asp?mastery=Sage&master1=7&master2=8&m1=32-0-0-6-12-10-0-0-0-0-0-0-12-6-8-0-6-0-0-12-6-0&m2=16-0-10-0-0-8-0-0-0-0-0-0-0-12-0-0-0-0-0-0-0)
Ive put the majority of my attribute points into DEX, should of of put some into INT (cos of the elemental dmg) or STR (physical dmg)
My gear isnt the best really, does need to be improved.

Hat : Helot's Rage (blue)
Weap1 : Spectral Warbow (w/Epic Relic)
Weap2 : Hyksos Compound Bow (w/Epic Relic)
Amu : Pythagorian Medallion (w/Epic Relic)
Torso : Hunter's Armor
Wrist : Hunter's Armguards
Legs : Random Green (crap)
Ring1 : Blood Stone (w/Epic Charm)
Ring2 : Phantom Bane

My Attack Speed is around 160, and DPS around 500 (pretty poor)

Any ideas what to aim for skills and gearwise.
Thanks

Take all those points that are in scattershot and put them in study prey. Or reduce some skills in the storm numbus line. You're not getting the benifit of that line much until you get the wisp and max eye of the storm. Also, Intelligence goes a long way if you're looking at optimal elemental damage.

If you're going to focus on str and dex, increase the hunting skills that benifit those forms of damage. Study prey is awsome.

Agreed, max out Study Prey.

Call of the Hunt w/ Exploit Weakness will give you a large increase to your piercing damage as well. Though, Call of the Hunt has a longtimer, which means ya need some form of -Recharge to make it on all the time, but with 1 pt in it and 1pt in Exploit Weakness, it makes for a good damage boost to farm bosses with.

You might want to move pts from Gouge as well. Gouge without Anatomy (Rogue Skill) is very inefficient IMHO.

should i of put more points into INT to boost my elemental damage?
my DEX is around 520 atm. shouldnt think i'll need it much higher.

At this point, I would put every amount of attribute points in int unless you already have a sizeable investment in strength already. The key to high damage in this game is to pick an attribute and crank it to the maximum. Either strength or intelligence. Dexterity will give you some decent pierce damage, but int and str are the major players as far as max damage goes. Either way, I wouldn't put another point in dexterity.

I think the sage class works best with intelligence, but I suppose you could do somekind of spear build with good retaliation skills if you go the strength route. At the very least you could have a shield and spear on weapon switch.

Sorry to bump a very old thread....

I've only just started TQ and am doing a cheese build (conqueror) but also was looking at another type so I can actually have more of a challenge (that doesn't mean I want a poop build though!)

So I looked at this sage thread and have modified it a little on your comments... here's a level 48ish build. Comments? Opinions? Suggestions? or is sage just the poop?

Build here (http://www.titancalc.com/TitanCalc.asp?mastery=Sage&master1=7&master2=8&m1=32-0-0-6-12-0-0-0-1-0-0-8-12-6-0-1-0-0-0-1-6-0&m2=32-0-10-0-0-8-0-0-0-0-0-0-0-12-0-0-1-0-0-8-0-0)

Thanks

If you're going for beefy elemental damage, boost theose skills more. I would only put 1 point in marksmanship, not 12. Use those points and max out squall or use some points for chain lightning.

Also, maxing study prey won't be as useful as maxing flush out since most your damage will be elemental. Eventually when youi have enough points, max both if you wish. In fact, you might want to skip ithe study prey line entirely at least until you get squall maxed which is more useful IMO.

Thing is I still want to be a bow user rather than a caster so didn't want to go down the chain lightning route. I've left marksmanship in because I think it could be quite a good skill

revised one here

The thing is, if your build is focused around intelligence, you're not going to get any worthwhile boost in damage with marksmanship since your gear will be focused on boosting elemental damage. And projectile speed isn't really important. Most the time the monsters are either stationary or moving toward you so you're not going to miss from slower arrows.

If you don't want to use any AoE spells, you might want to boost strength and dexterity instead. A lot of the storm skills are still useful even without a high intelligence.

Remove all but one point from Scattershot.
Remove all Gouge points.
You now have 17 points to use.

Put 14 in Study Prey and Flush Out.
Put 1 in Call of the Hunt and 1 in Exploit Weakness.
Put the last point in Storm Mastery.

Keep putting points in Storm Mastery. You want to get the wisp. Pump up Eye of the Storm rather than putting more points in the wisp's health. He's has a fast cooldown and is relatively cheap to resummon. Also put at least a point, preferably more, in Storm Surge. A point in in Squall and Obscured Visibility will help you against normal mobs too.

When building future characters keep in mind that usually putting one point in another skill is worth a lot more than putting another point in a skill you already have. I try to get at least one point in the skills I plan to use as my core skills then fill in as necessary later. Also don't be afraid to experiment with new skills. You can easily untrain them and reallocate the points if you prefer to put them elsewhere.

I suggest you put points into strength if you are not using active spells. My sage is split pretty evenly between strength and dex, leaning on the strength side. Most of your damage is coming from your physical and piercing attacks, and strength also allows you to wear heavier armor.

Edit: Blah, just noticed the OP was old. Well, this may help someone.
