Great for promotion :)

I like RPG's because it's like running away to a fantasy world where noone has to be themselves (I, personally, usually choose characters that are nothing at all like me, such as male midgets). That, and beating up on monsters is fun :D

12-03-2005, 02:28 PM
Getting a break from the stress of life just rocks!

Being the good guy is good for the ego too.

12-04-2005, 07:21 AM
The feeling of being a all powerful and respected hero in a beautiful world full of dangerous ceatures and ladies in distress.

12-04-2005, 12:48 PM
I like MMORPG games because it is an a parallel world full of magical things and great miracles, where u can escape the the daily shit and forget it all.

and no I am not depressed ^^

12-06-2005, 05:32 PM
Besides the feeling of being able to leave your stressful day behind to join a persistent world filled with fantasy and wonder...the reason MMORPG's appeal so much to me is that ability to make new friends all over the world. It makes the fantasy that much more real. :D

12-06-2005, 08:54 PM
RPG games are simply the best

12-07-2005, 01:26 AM
I love MMORPG games because... I can cause havoc and join clans and make and break wars, all from the safety of my computer.

12-09-2005, 07:11 PM
I like RPG's because:

they enable me to step out of real life and release some of the tension
in a way no real person gets hurt :unibrow:

12-15-2005, 05:10 PM
I hate to be repeative, but I agree with everyones replies.
RPG's are fun, they are a great escape from my mundane life.
Being able to play a hero that can collect amazing items and cast magic is something I will never be able to do in real life, so it is fun to act it out through these types of games. Plus, sharing this experience on-line with other people, who have the same love for this type of game adds to the level of fun.
I like exploring, going on quests, meeting people and getting rewards for acts of bravery/stupidness (depends how you look at it :) ) and being able to improve my char. the further along I go.
The fantasy realm has always held a special place in my heart, as I am sure it has for many of you.
Game on and have fun.

12-15-2005, 10:09 PM
i like rpgs because i can be more than what i am.

12-16-2005, 04:02 AM
I like rpg's cause Real Pretty Girl's are the best except when they bother me when I'm leveling and adding to my skill levels...can't they see I'm busy????

12-19-2005, 07:17 AM
I love Action-rpg games. Titan Quest will be the best. I keen on ancient weapons, and battle tactics! "Gimme the whole fun!" :D

01-07-2006, 12:57 AM
I like RPG's that have great gameplay, nice graphics.Titan Quest is going to be a great RPG much like Diablo2 was.Titan Quest has great features aswell.A physics engine.I don't know if you have seen the Phyics in the game but its awsome. It looks very realistic.Every object in the game has Physcis which is awsome. Also lets not forget that it will come with a MAP EDITOR!!!!!.To get back on topic Titan Quest is the only RPG that I will need.So what do I like in a RPG,well Titan Quest has everything I like.History,Mythology and of course that Meele style of gameplay.I went overboard I know but I think its okay if I went overboard with TQ :P.

01-23-2006, 08:10 PM
Titan Quest, to me looks like it will be one of the best Action-RPG's out for this time, (and tell me so, I've had my share of some fantastic RPG's even in my 13 years :p and for sure I can say this will be one of the best ones, like come on, playing in the ancient times with all the Mythology and such, best thing ever) and hell, it looks so damn good I'm going to buy a copy no matter what, just so you guys get your well earned money for makeing this game! :D

02-01-2006, 02:29 PM
I RPG's because they let you create a person in another world and Timeframe
As stated above in everyones post I also enjoy exploring new maps questing for items and joining others in quests.

02-07-2006, 11:13 AM
an ancient RPG is awesome and also gives some history edu' and it reminds me how it all was far away back in history when everything was left to explore and you had to make your own maps - kewl :D
OK :) I better edit here: An Ancient RPG is awesome, everything is left to explore and you have to make your own maps - kewl!

02-12-2006, 10:33 PM
I like RPG's because of how great it is to lead people in epic quests and adventures.

02-14-2006, 10:11 AM
OK seems like the last ppl read the requirements, but as a reminder to the newcomers:
i quote: ONE SENTENCE!! no stories plz :p

Theo, edit this if you think they should be "rewarded" for their negligence ;)

****woohoo 200 ^^

02-14-2006, 11:03 PM
RPG's are usually more realistic, more historic than most games because most of the time, you can't beat a boss on your own.

03-10-2006, 06:31 AM
When I read a book, I get to be nothing more than a spectator. In an RPG I can become a character in the story and fight with fellow friends throughout a world created by the imagination of the developers, all in my spare time! :)

03-11-2006, 01:14 AM
RPG is more than pressing random buttons to beat another character, it requires strategy when building a character or an army you control. Combined with adventure and action.

03-16-2006, 06:46 PM
I love rpg's for their amazing story lines and there level of invovlment with the characters, but rpg/action games are another level as they involve endless hours of replay value.

04-16-2006, 11:48 PM
What better place to meet new friends then a rpg, all my friends are heros and we can sit back and tell tales of our adventures, these memorys will last us forever. Plus we got the loot to prove how epic it was.

Big hugs,

04-30-2006, 09:59 PM
I like RPGs because they are the fairest of games -- there are no winners and losers like there are in zero-sum games, simply a group of people socializing, having fun, and creating a story and journey for themselves.

05-01-2006, 01:57 AM
I like RPGs because of preplanning, in RPGs you can set clear targets to yourself (like in real-life).

05-01-2006, 03:59 AM
I like RPG but I prefer Hack&Slash :D !

05-01-2006, 04:49 AM
I like RP games as they allow me to escape my hum drum existence.

I like action RPG's because they offer the perfect balance of thoughtful strategy and fast, accessible gameplay.

05-25-2006, 05:00 PM
Me.likes.smashing.things, i like action RPG's because they are intense and progressive, taking both the 2 best things out of fps and rpg :).

05-25-2006, 05:08 PM
I like action rpgs because they allow you to mold a character in a way that suits your play style, and also provide a good way to have some quick, simple fun.

05-25-2006, 05:22 PM
I like RPG's because...I'm a man out of time, I need a sword in my hand to protect the innocent, strike down evil in all it's shapes and forms, become stronger, faster and richer because of my adventures, and pretty much shut the pie-hole of anyone who pisses me off.

A good action RPG to me is if the world is believable and you have total player control.

05-26-2006, 12:54 AM
I like rpg's that will immerse me into the story so deeply that i start growing massive amounts of hair, that requires a chainsaw to cut.

05-26-2006, 12:58 AM
Two words: Hacking Ass.

05-26-2006, 01:48 AM
I enjoy action RPGs because looting the very next dead monster could get you that fantastic item of your heroic dreams!

(I could provide more answers, but Theo asked for just one sentence! I feel so ... limited! ;))

05-26-2006, 07:15 AM
I like Action-RPGs because there are the best game genres combined: Action and Role-playing games.

05-26-2006, 07:22 AM
I enjoy action-rpgs, because I like hitting things with a pointy stick until they stop making noise. *bows* I would like to thank the academy...

Porno gets boring after a while and I need to fantasize about something that’s closer to reality and RPG’s such as Diablo, Sacred and Now Titan Quest fill that need.

:knockout: :p

05-26-2006, 02:09 PM
Action RPGs, with their emphasis on repetative clicking reawarded by the occasional uber-loot, is a much cheaper (and more entertaining) addiction than gambling.
Now, unless you have a full game to offer, leave me alone, I'm busy replaying the demo.

05-27-2006, 06:18 PM
I like action/rpgs for the character advancment, the idea of beeing an average joe and becoming a savior and a powerful warrior as you advance through the game...oh yeah and the items..:P

05-27-2006, 08:26 PM
Don't want the free game, just like game and just want to play games that are fun. I will buy the game. :)

05-27-2006, 08:42 PM
What's there NOT to like about action RPGs?

05-28-2006, 01:05 AM
Where else but an action RPG can you wade through swarms of monsters with a human ally?

05-28-2006, 06:30 AM
(everyone has already said the reasons why i like Action RPGs. so i'll say something different)

Years and Years ago, an Action RPG came out of nowhere. Its name? Diablo. and. it. rocked. I must have played it for a good 7-8 years. Now another Action RPG has come out of nowhere! Titan Quest! and its everything Diablo 2 should have been!!

Rah Pillage T-Shirt Reads:

Why I Play RPGs? It's the "Phat Lewt" Stupid!

05-30-2006, 11:48 AM
I like action RPG's because they let me crack skulls with large axes without breaking the law.

06-01-2006, 06:57 AM
I like them for the stress relief and simple, addictive gameplay -- and TQ is especially appealing because I'm pretty much a Classics student. ;)

06-01-2006, 05:01 PM
I like them because you can play as much as you wish, 2 or 42 consecutive hours, without getting bored..thanks to the TITANIC hunger for good items! :)

06-02-2006, 12:48 AM
I enjoy Action RPG's for their frantic pace, ever rewarding loot system, and ability to relieve stress after a hard day's work.

06-02-2006, 02:09 AM
I like thrashing and decimating hoards of monsters along with treasure hunting (and the high anticipation it brings), for finding that next best thing to make my character even more deadly!

06-02-2006, 12:57 PM
The Builder and The Destroyer, The Explorer and The Stalwart, The Ally and The Foe: these inner spirits feast on the meat of Titan Quest; a rare balance of conflict and resolution.

While it is true that action RPGs are not my #1 type of RPG. I nontheless get addicted to every one of them so easily... I think the simplicity of the game play mixed with a surprisingly deep character developement process, sweetened by the prospect of finding nice loots, are all the things that draws me to action RPGs.

06-03-2006, 02:58 PM
The addiction, replayability, depth, and fun factor in these games is unrivaled as a whole by any other genre.

Hack and Slash

06-04-2006, 05:15 AM
I love this game and I hope I will makesome awesome chars with it!And dont forget the amounts of uniques this game has.Pure sweetness all the way!

I realize I don't have 10 posts yet, but I'm working on it. Anyways, here goes.

To me, at least for the past 12 years or so of my life (22 now), I've been slowly making videogames my preferred medium of entertainment. There's something altogether escapist and satisfying about the interaction involved with videogames that you simply cannot obtain from books, movies, or TV (I love all those things as well, don't get me wrong).

My gaming haze started with simple platformers like Mario or Sonic, and the occasional shooter or sports-sim, but all of that changed when I got my hands on Final Fantasy III (VI in Japan) for the SNES. I had long been a fan of fantasy and sci-fi, and had read my share of Brian Jaques, Tolkien, Feist, and any other innumberable authors that caught my imagination at that young age. But those experiences paled in comparison to the story I was about to live in Final Fantasy III. No longer was I sitting on the sidelines while the heroes went about their business... I WAS the hero, or heroes case.

Since then, the RPG, in all its shapes and sizes, has been my favorite form of game. Be it MMO, Action, Table-top, Western Style, or Eastern... the worlds presented through the eyes of a user-controlled character not only help the player escape and live a somewhat alternate life, but the medium itself has the potential to examine the multiple facets of human existence, much like print and film have before it.

I suppose of all reasons, the one I love RPG's and videogames in general for, is that potential as an artform. Aside from that... who doesn't want to be a hero? June 26th can't come fast enough for the next adventure I'll have.

06-05-2006, 06:59 PM
I've been hooked on action RPGs ever since Dungeon Master and they just keep getting better & more addictive as time goes by - much to my free time & wife's dismay.

action rpgs are the best genre of games and Titan Quest will definetly be the best one: the plot/setting is original, this game draws on diablo 2 (which is great) and maybe one of the best things is the editor; you can make maps and even entire quests with it (thats what i heard).

06-06-2006, 04:49 PM
Long term replayability, easy to start and stop gaming, quick reward system, and a small investment for a large payout.

Wild Slop
06-07-2006, 06:51 PM
been a fan of the "action RPG" ever since Secret of Mana :nerd:
why do i like?
..not too much to say about it really...

good for killing time for one,
enjoyable to build different character classes up,
can be a healthy mix between the more involved Rpg and the mindless shooter

any game with the right /(enough) personality will always be enjoyable to play - i tend to prefer the style of action RPG's, but it's the personality that drives a good game along and makes it last

the titan quest demo has caught my attention , hopefully it will deliver

06-07-2006, 11:17 PM
Well I'll try my best to make this short but sweet. :)

I love action RPG's because those boss monsters think they're so tough, then I come along and give them a lesson in butt-kicking 101.

Action RPGs give you a break from your monotonous routine and give you a feeling that you are actually in the realm of the game with all the action, adventure and drama.

06-08-2006, 06:21 AM
"I like RPG's because:"

(Where's a Hulk smilie when you need it)

06-08-2006, 09:33 AM
I like Action/RPG's because the combine the fast paced style of an action/platform type game with the character building of an RPG. Diablo and Diablo II revolutionized this genre and I was as addicted to DII as any game I've ever played. The multiplayer is what put it over the top.

I loved the single player but once I started playing it online it was all over with.

I hope this game has the same type of multiplayer system.

The demo was incredible.

06-09-2006, 09:12 AM
Loot and leet, I need.

06-09-2006, 04:00 PM
I like just about any game I can play with my friends! I'm really lucky in that I have a handful of friends who all love online games as much as I do. The problem is that we generally chew them up and spit them out. Once you have played a game for 8 hours a day for a few months, your generally ready to move on. Good games just aren't released as fast as we tend to want a new one.

Titan Quest seems like a blast from what I have read and seen in the demo. We had a ton of fun with the Diablo series, and this seems to take what we liked about that and improve upon it. Not to mention the custom editor... /drool.

Throwing my hat in for a free copy, but don't worry, my friends and I will all be buying this game upon release ^_^ (or at least they will if I happen to win! hehe)

06-12-2006, 09:05 AM
i like action rpg because its a simple game to play you just simply hack and slash or let loose some spells either way its a great game to play

06-12-2006, 07:38 PM
I love action RPG's because they provide me with an opportunity to meet hot girls and talk smack to big jocks, without having to worry about someone beating my nerdy butt!

06-13-2006, 11:29 AM
I love Action RPG'S because I like Powergaming alot and it's always nice to relax your brain from strategygames like Civilization or Total War with pure addictive Action. ;)

Darth Executor
06-13-2006, 12:51 PM
I don't love all action RPGs. I love one thing about the genre that makes or breaks a game for me: skills. I just love to see what comes out of other people's imaginations. I love finding and using new abilities for my avatar, then seeing how good a job the developers did in implementing their ideas. And even though I risk sounding like a hippy who had one too many blunts by using the word "love" yet again, I love using those abilities to smash through hordes of helpless enemies. I don't play action RPGs for simple mindless killing. I play action RPGs because the RPG part allows me to choose how I mindlessly slaughter the multitudes of dumb as rock enemies the game throws at me.

06-13-2006, 01:47 PM
I like action-RPGs for two major reasons; The action (non-stop hopefully since I love running around frying things with my wizards), and the Role-Playing (as in-depth as possible so I can BE the wizard :)).

06-14-2006, 11:45 AM
Ill be honest with you.. since i have already win a shirt.. i dont think i have a change to win the game... but since it sound like a nice deal, ill give it a try. (Dont have nothing to loose....right.. )

Well im 23 now, and have played RPG since... atari, but at that time they where called scrollers more than RGP, just like what mario was a the pure begining.

Why i love RPGs, well... at the begining when i saw the post, i though this will be a piece of cake of a post, since i do love RPG, but when the time comes it really its a hard thing to say, but here it goes:

"I love RPG because because everything what you can imagine is possible, and that my friends, its everybodys dreamland."

06-14-2006, 11:59 AM
I like action rpgs because they're addictive and easy to jump right into, despite your gaming experience; anyone can sit down and start playing with little trouble and get hooked!

06-14-2006, 02:10 PM
I like action RPG's because they provide an excellent blend of character development and fast-paced gameplay.

06-14-2006, 09:55 PM
one more reason to love action rpg NO RESOURCE MNAGEMENT !!!!!!!!!

ack i got too much loot i need more stash please .. one of the pleasenter problems to deal with in action rpg

06-15-2006, 03:42 PM
i like rpgs because its a sanctuary of hope and dreams, fame and fortune

06-15-2006, 11:24 PM
A good action RPG can bring me to that perfect state in which sense of self is completely lost and I am adrift in endless possibility.

06-16-2006, 12:25 AM
Just as religion is the opium of the masses, Action RPG's are my opium
as they create a seperate reality in which I can immerse myself in a
land of adventure and become omnipotent.

06-16-2006, 03:30 PM
It's not like I can go and kill rats and loot their dead bodies for gold and items in real life, RPGs are just a good way to have quick enjoyable fun where the character you play reflects your likes.

06-16-2006, 06:08 PM
the restriction is ONE sentence.. so, my argument will be one sentence.. broken up in metered lines. =)

so.. question is, why do we like action rpg's? specifically, why do we like action rpg's LIKE titan quest?

i shall answer with a song!

*clears throat* (pause) *clears throat again*

our general enjoyment

the proper sprains, Olympic games
of carpal tunnel syndrome*
multiplies its claims, to proper names
and imaginary brimstone—

we log right in and click a mouse
and tragically ignore the spouse
and filial reconciliations
are beyond the scope of our things,
of titan-questing wanderings
and similar elations—

we point our pointers at the king
of involuntary, inhuman beings
and, despite a promise,
we stare at screens until the dawn
engages sprinklers on our lawn
and even disgusts bacchus**—

so it shall be our luck this june
to find a hack-‘n’-slash to prune
the time to which our joy went;
and, despite the pressures of our peers,
let not one factor interfere
in our general enjoyment!

* carpel tunnel syndrome -- chronic problem in the hands, sometimes due to constant keyboard use.. esp. in games such as titan quest =)

** bacchus - god of wine, god of drink.. and, sometimes, god of physical & progressive eroticism =)

well, that's my submission to the contest!

Exhilarating exploration, exotic locations, treasure seeking, monster mashing, masteries reaching, and solo or party play. :)

Action RPGs are an infinite competition for the best items, character builds and individuality; one's character never stops evolving or competing with the world around them.

06-18-2006, 09:05 PM
Action RPG's provide a playground for the deeper impulses of our self to romp and be merry.
