View Full Version : Dream + Spirit? Would it work?
So i want to create a new character, and would really like to try Dream, and thought if my second mastery should be Spirit? I like both of them, but don't really know if they'll work at legendary, any ideas, or should i just go with something like warfare / defence?

All classes should work, but Dream + Spirit is an especially potent one. Poinas wrote a good guide about it actually; http://www.titanquest.net/tq-forum/threads/25924-Guide-Pwning-with-Spirit
You don't have to stick to that guide, it's fun to experiment on your own. But it's definitely a very viable class combination.
Thanks a lot, i honestly thought it wouldn't work in any way, but that is great, and it'll help me a lot!
Also i just completed all the secret places today on my main character, i loved the 800x600, and the Woods (which you made?) and the other stuff, was great fun! ;)

Diabolist is my favorite class it is very effective on legendary.
Main advantages of this class is :
-Boss killing ability (Outsider/Phantasm/Necrosis/TOW)
-You can easily get -100 recharge i you aim for that (Dark Covenant/Temporal Flux)you will also need little recharge from items.
-One of best crowd control ability (Sands of sleep/constant distort reality/Vision of death/Spirit lure).
-Lot of fun.
Main disadvantage:
- You need some advanced character skills management to use wide movepool efectively.
- Could be very hard to play it on lower levels if you dont have some good items or if not very familiar with dream/spirit skills.
You just made me to start with diabolist again :P

Early levels are incredibly easy with skeletons, spirit lure, sands of sleep and trance of empathy, Psionic touch makes a decent staff skill till you get enough to completely max the terion tree after a respec (completely worthless unless maxed) Insidious miasma, Deathchill and trance of wrath will melt any normal/epic mob that reaches melee range in seconds if you've maxed all 3 trees. Insidious miasmia + Mindbreaker is no longer the instant win vs bosses it was in earlier versions but you're still a pretty solid contender for fastest boss slayer if you stack on flat reduction penalties with the ones you get from your skills.

I was reading the guide listed above and it mentions that arcane lore has a blast radius but reading the skill I don't see that listed. Does it?

It doesnt have radius anymore it was nerfed cause it was overpowered but still is very powerful.

Arcane Lore blast radius has been moved to Earth basically, where it's on one projectile.

Anything will work if you get skills and gear that are synergistic with your damage types. Some match ups are better than others, but that's not the point.
Spirit and Dream have mostly the same damage types and HUGE resistance reduction auras. Resistance reduction guarantees that you can use your skills on any enemy, construct, undead or otherwise. You skills will all stay viable and deadly throughout all difficulties. The auras are short range though, so as a caster they can be somewhat tricky to take full advantage of. However, with pets doing most of your damage, and if you avoid the bleed damage synergy on deathchill aura, I think you can stay relatively safe while your minions soak up the damage and aggro, and you'll have a lot of minions. However that's a somewhat passive build, if you want a more active build I wouldn't know how that would play out, as I've never been a caster with either of those classes, only melee. Maybe these guys can tell you more.
I'm wondering if it'll work with a main wep and a shield instead of the staff, or does that cut too much of my damage? anyway it's about level 10 atm, and i guess i'll try it later, also i've never tried Dream before, but have used spirit :)

It'll work but Dream is a hybrid class so its stats aren't specialized to caster or melee, combined with a caster class, Spirit, your melee stats will be lacking. However you'll benefit a lot more from those awesome auras. You could have a good build but it would definitely not be for beginners in my opinion.

Get the bone fiend to pull aggro and keep mobs off of you, get liche king to reduce mob resistances, use acid rain to keep your bone fiend doing good and to increase your nuke damage. Lucid Dream + bone spire and ternion with a good vit staff and cold staff on switch will kick everything's ass, including undead. Trance of convalescence is the best trance for you and your party, it'll keep you and your summons alive for longer. Get both the line-wave and AOE wave from Dream (distortion wave and something else) and you'll be a nuking machine. Physical, vitality, electrical burn and cold damage can take care of anything. You might have to switch gear to better complement the damage type for the job, for example putting on some armor that increases electrical burn or physical in place of something that ups vitality damage when fighting undead.

Question - what is the bone fiend niche anyway? Damage? Utility? Tanking? Does it have a use when you already have a buffed army of skeletons/wolves running around mauling faces? (I already know a Liche is great for the resist nuke and general tankiness; and the Sylvan lady for buffing)
Not yet willing to try it out as I am sitting on a huge point pool on my Spirit/Nature summoner with very low investment in both masteries as to not screw myself over for Acts 3/4 Normal by raising the wrong mastery first. Knowing what the Bone Fiend actually does would be of great help.

It's got a projectile that leeches life and 2 AOE's, it tanks pretty well, though will die from time to time, but you can resummon it quickly. A lot of the time it will keep itself alive with life leech. As a warlock and as a cabalist, casters of course, I've used it as a tank and didnt invest into skellies, cuz I didn't want to go for a summoner build. He does good damage too. He would be a great addition to your army once maxed.
