Hello everyone,
this is my first post.

I'm thinking about putting together a reasonable set of self-imposed rules for some of my future characters. I am a very slow player - usually play a weekend or two, then put down the game for several months.

These rules are not meant to make the game much harder, just more realistic. I especially like to trim the boring parts of the meta-game.

Here are the rules:

1. Some naming convention is required to distinguish between normal toons (whatever rules you run those by), and the toons following these rules. I'm thinking about a HR_ or HC_ prefix (House Rules or Hard Core).

2. delete the char on first death. save no gear, just take some farewell screens.

3. mods:
community patch allowed/recommended, of course;
no Vault usage;
Defiler allowed for these only: fix caravan files (if you move the savegame to another PC), freeze time of day (I hate the night), RNG function fix, slow cast fix.

4. no use of Mystic

5. no 'Altar of Separation' usage

6. no twinking (Vault disallowed helps, but additionally we ban the Transfer tab of the Caravan)

7. no going back to earlier difficulty

8. no portal stone usage!

9. no farming! you can revisit old places only to finish quests you skipped, but don't abuse this exception. Ideally we pretend that none of the mobs respawn!

What do you think of these rules? Reasonable? Again, I'm not looking for a challenge, I just want to eliminate the meta-game while keeping the game relaxing.

Maybe something similar was done/discussed on these forums already. I'm sorry but did not find anything at a quick glance. Has anyone done something similar?

Edit: hope this is the correct subforum...no really a Challenge, except that it requires some self-control.

Hey jiglerul,

Since you seem to play the game not very often the "challenge" does not seem to be that bad. However the question remains whether your challenge makes gameplay more realistic and or more fun..... I don't think it will be. Since in which world does it stay 10 am in the morning.... or can you manually correct the imperfections of creation?

Besides that I thinks the game will get really frustrating for you if you can not proceed at certain point if each of your characters dies over there. You did not say anything about the amount of experience you already have with TQ but if you have none yet I wouldn't destroy your character when he/she dies. But thats up to you.

ok, the fact about the world stuck at 10am is so true. I'll have to remove that.
About my experience - I have/had two chars in Legendary (one finished).

I guess that the 'no portal stone' use and 'pretend mobs don't respawn' ideas were not tried before. This motivates me to start such a char and keep journal of his/her career.
The only issue is I've just recently started a new char (lvl 18 atm) and I don't want to replay Greece so soon. So about 15 more hours of gameplay to finish Normal with the current char, then this experiment can start. Don't hold your breath though :D
