Guide to placing merchants

I started a guide on the VN boards for adding Merchants to maps (http://vnboards.ign.com/titan_quest_mod_development/b23093/97762013/p1/?3), I haven't gotten down to making custom loot tables for the merchants, but It does go over the database enteries that handle much of the set up for the random tables and pricing. Hopfuly it answer a few questions I've seen come up

Great guide but I have one problem. I have my merchant placed, his record imported into the DB editor but when I go to edit him, the edit page opens but is blank. There is no MarketConfig or any of the merchant variables you listed. Any ideas on why this is? I used the basic greece startingtown merchant like you said, renamed him but with the blank edit page im stuck.

edit: small update. I guess the reason the page is blank is because im getting this error when editing the merchant file.

Error loading record file or associated template.

any ideas on what this means or how to fix it?

Thanks Rah_Pillage, I suppose I should have tossed up the traditional "Hi, I'm new here post" :) I new to the whole modding thing, and TQ seemed like a great place to start.

Hmmm, did you install the template files when you installed the tutorials? The only reason I ask is I know I did install them, don't know if it helped or hindered me though. I'll have to look around, I thought I saw a similar error somewhere else.

edit : Now that i've had a couple cups of coffee, I don't think installing templates has anything to do with it (though you can still try it if you want). Though the key is in that error message. Hmmm why is that happening. I'll keep looking :)
