Templar with or without the Nightmare?

I have a templar on Lilith mod, and he's lvl 22. I have the Nightmare pet lvl 5, and I'm wondering if I should still use him. He was REALLY helpful at the early levels, but now he dies quite often. He does still have pretty good damage (takes away half of the health of a scorpion on the Cliffs), and his nova is really powerful, but I feel that he's slowing me down with those 5 pts I invested in him. Also, If I want him to do good damage later in the game, I guess I'm going to have to wear pet rings, and that would really slow me down because I have some awesome green rings for +str% and +health%. So I'm now at Asteria, so should I erase him now, or should I wait?

well, i haven't played lilith too much, but you shoulld keep him because he gets immense bonuses in epic/legendary, assuming that mostal/the custom mod system doesnt get rid of the pet bonuses.

I played Lilith EBMI with a Templar and I'll try to give some advices.

You're wrong : the Nightmare, passed first levels, is totally useless if you play alone (without pets), so you should better erase it and move your skills points elsewhere... BUT, if you take the Centaurs (? : that http://ferrovipathe.free.fr/Lilith/items.htm?c=030), Nightmare become interesting at the end of walktrough.

Two exemples of calc : mine (with 100% reload) and another without 100% for example.
