Hey guys, I'm halfway through epic on my first ever char. I went for bow haruspex and it started to go really well after picking up ToC and alot of health regen + farming for soul shiver. Don't have to worry about life that much.
I wanted to try a class with more active skills, like a spellcaster or even a phantom strike melee of some sort. Thing is, I would prefer a class which doesn't rely on kiting or potions that much and isn't that gear dependent Would make it much more relaxed to play.
So something really fun that still kicks ass, need tips :)
Thanks in advance!

Archers and casters need to kite throughout and melee requires heavy potion use early on. So it's one or the other, alas.
If you can stand the potion use through much of Normal, Harbingers become very strong and have an answer for everything in the game.
Alternatively, if you don't like drawing aggro and healing but still want to do a lot of clicking and active play, Trappers are mostly safe throughout the game. They kill slower than other classes in Legendary, though.

Welcome to the forums. :)
For a fun caster with lots of active skills you could try Evoker (Earth/Dream). I think Asylum posted an Evoker guide recently, you might want to check it out for details. If you don't want to play Dream again so soon maybe try Druid (Storm/Nature). It has quite a few active skills and also pets. Evoker should be way more fun though. As melee chars go, I have heard good things about Warden (Defense/Hunting). Conqueror (Defense/Warfare) is very powerful, but does not have a lot of active skills, mostly you just go up to the enemies and whack them till they die. Templar (Defense/Dream) has a few more tricks. If you don't want to play Hunting or Dream again right away you could try a Thane (Warfare/Storm). It's a hybrid, so it's tricky to allocate stats and gear, but that's a melee char with lots of great active skills.
All classes in TQ are very gear dependent because good gear will vastly improve any char. Also everyone relies on potions because it's simply the best way to heal and regenerate mana. Some classes need fewer potions than others, but that's no big deal. They're cheap and have a short cooldown, so might as well use them.
Haruspex can actually become immune to almost all attacks with the right gear. So if you want a char that doesn't have to kite and doesn't need many potions Haruspex is your best bet. Get your defensive ability up to about 2000 and get chance to avoid projectiles to 100% and you're nearly immortal.

Thanks guys!
I don't mind kiting that much though. Is there a caster class that has good defenses against ranged attacks so it can focus on kiting melee?
I tried melee aswell, but the potion use put me off at the start :D

Storm toons have no problem with ranged attacks as they get Squall. So, once you've cast Squall on groups of archers or casters, you can focus just on melee attackers for the next 7 seconds or so until you need to cast Squall again.
Oracle, Elementalist, Druid, Prophet are all good Storm casters.

Any good guide around for an oracle? I'm still learning the game :)
I'm not that opposed to using dream again though, since atm I'm only using passive skills of this mastery

There is Poinas' guide to Spirit (http://www.titanquest.net/tq-forum/threads/25924-Guide-Pwning-with-Spirit), which covers Oracle. It's a very specific playing style though.

I was going to say what Irma2 said - it sounds like you want a Storm + X character. I would look in the forums for some of the builds he suggested and see which one interests you most.
The character with the most active skills I've made so far has been a trap assassin. There isn't an up to date guide about it but you can figure it out from a recent thread that is linked in the new builds compendium.
I use: Flurry of Knives, Lay Trap, War Horn, Battle Standard, Flash Powder, and Lethal Strike constantly (+passives and onslaught). A great class for the Xmax mod but I haven't been through Legendary on it yet.

It is hard to resist the temptation of Ternion, but an Oracle can do well with chain lightning instead with -recharge. There are a lot of skills in the Storm tree worth experimenting with - so look at a guide for Spirit but have fun with Storm.

Yeah I've looked at the spirit guide, but it's not exactly what I'm looking for, looks more like what I'm playing with on my haruspex than what one would expect from a spellcaster.

I've never liked the way the guide was written. It reads more like a journal of discovery than a well formatted how-to. You have to go to the "Lvl 28" section to read about the second mastery, but why would someone look there for it? Bluh! All the info is there though.
Here is a handy quick spirit build: http://www.titancalc.com/TitanCalc.asp?mastery=Theurgist&master1=2&master2=0&sa=0&m1=32-6-0-12-8-1-1-0-6-16-1-6-8-1-12-8-1-0-1-1-0-0-0&m2=0
Optional: Enslave Spirit, Vision of Death, Unearthly Power

The build mechanics is still way too similar to what I'm currently playing as with my haruspex :P
Using ToC + Damage to health to keep it up and Volley + Scatter shot seem vert similar to ternion + arcane lore
So if I would go oracle, I would prefer a storm casting one. Already started one, using squall atm, but dno what crowd control spells I should be aiming for. Might spec dream instead of spirit for secondary for the stun abilities. Unless spirit/storm offers some good alternatives?

Like Irma2 said Prophet is a nice storm caster. For crowd control you want Squall. Max it, enjoy it. Later on you also want obscured visibility maxed.

I guess the play style is similar... shoot a few times and kill an entire mob. The methods are pretty different though... I have a Ranger and Oracle and I like them both quite a bit. My Oracle uses squall and thunderball to debuff mobs and get close to them to spam ternion (which is boosted by Storm Numbus tree), so it isn't like I am ignoring Storm skills for Ternion.

You can use Spirit without Ternion for the amazing auras and pet, but Dream, Earth, or Nature are all great too. I like Storm's method of stunning with Thunderball but many disagree. It isn't a one point wonder.

Didn't say your build was similar, but negating the way dps was increased, poinas his build was to some extent :)
I'll go full storm and see which one compliments my build best at later stages!
Thanks alot guys :p
