Earthen Barrier no additional damage

Hi folks,

just as always I had no luck using the search function.

I've just found the Earthen Barrier shield and felt happy as hell :D Then I equipped the shield and just came up to surface again. There was no increase in damage, although the attribute said:
"21 fire damage
19 lightning damage"

(in original: 21 Feuerschaden, 19 Blitzschaden).

It may only apply when he hits with the shield. At least it is limited to weapon attacks.

Yeah, it will only apply to a shield attack. The same way a 2nd weapon will not buff the first weapon with it's bonuses. This is why it does not show on the DPS value and why that doesn't increase if you change to a shield that does more damage.
