If the monster has energy, it'll have it reduced by 20%. And 30% of the amount that has been reduced will be directly converted into damage.

So: A satyr with 100 energy attacks you. You hit him. His energy gets reduced to 80 (100-20%) and he receives 7 damage (30% of 20 is 6.6666667).

Does it only work on attacks, like Ternion, Onslaught, CalcStrike, PTouch, Marksmanship, and regular attacks?

Yes, I think it only works with player attacks.

Artifact procs and damage reflection do not drain energy unless specificallly stated so.

Ok, cool. Seems like a build based around this mechanic would work well mixed with spirit. Ternion + Energy drain jewelery(if they stack) = epic win vs typhon and stuff.

That would work... until they had no energy left to use against them. It sort of worked for me with my early diviner but I'm not sure if a large chunk of my damage was coming from the energy damage or the ternion.
