Yeah, I'm quite experienced it that one! The game can't find the model.
Try extracting the creatures.arc into c: (root). Then use this in a "bat" file to repack (but make sure you have only "tex", "msh" and "anm" files of the creatures.arc on your "drive c:"):

archivetool Creatures.arc -add \*.tex \ "c:\program files\thq\titan quest\resources"

archivetool Creatures.arc -add \*.msh \ "c:\program files\thq\titan quest\resources"

archivetool Creatures.arc -add \*.anm \ "c:\program files\thq\titan quest\resources"

too bad that its moving only really slow and the texture seems to be messed up a bit... what should i do now phnx and does your char moves with normal speed?
As far as I can tell you have switched textures "femalepcskirt01_white.tex" with "femalepc01.tex". Now you must switch "femalepcskirt01bmp.tex" (bump map) with "flatbmp.tex" (you find it in the system.arc in the textures folder). Only problem is then your character will look sweaty and won't have bump maps on arms, legs etc and the back skirt part looks messed up. If your character moves too slow and is floating above ground then I think you are using the femalepc01.msh for model. Try using the default model i.e. don't switch the model!

Ah now i understand your post, have misread it. ;)

Ok got it now, but its kinda bad with the bump map then... we need to create a new one, which dont produces these errors.

Got this far now, but i already use femalepc01.msh for model but maybe i will try again with it.

Does your char moves normally?

Ok i readded the femalepc01.msh (as the femalepcskirt01.msh) and its still the same...
Sorry if I wasn't precise enough. I meant to say that you shouldn't use femalepc01.msh instead just use the default model. The femalepc01.msh isn't finished so I think it has wrong collision data so it won't work. Only the default model will look a bit messed up in the back skirt part because of the hair part of the texture is taken as the skirt part of the texture.

Until we will have a working converting program for tex into dds we can't solve this problem.

As I told you, you should use flatbmp.tex as bump map which you can find in the texture folder of system.arc.

No problem when i read it a second time i understand it.

We can already open and edit tex files. (hexed into dds files)
Or does they not work if they are rehexed into tex again? Because editing the bump map isnt that hard... I will just try it out. ;)

If you use this for converting:

1. delete first 12 bytes . not zeroing....
2. replace 4th byte to 20
3. rename *.tex to *.dds

then the texture will be displayed uncorrectly, because of wrong size or whatever. I couldn't edit it if its displayed like that.

ok figures that out too... thats pretty bad :( so we have to wait for a real converter.

Would you guys happen to know how to get the automatoi helm to work? I can lay it down in the editor then pick it up in a custom game but the graphics are for another helm and the inventory image is a blue and yellow checkerboard. The helm is under creatures/automatoi in the editor. There are 2 styles each with a light and dark version. Please let me know if you think it will be possible. Thanks

You would have to change the mesh and textures to the correct ones for the helm.

But are you sure there are the correct files in the game at all? Maybe its just a unfinished helm, like the awesome female model...

If you know the right files you could try to change it in the art manager under armor parameters it just lists the normal circle mesh and textures.

Hi Shark, thanks for replying. As far as your question, "are the correct files in the game at all?" I believe they are. Not sure if this is a spoiler for you but at the end of Act I in the temple of Knossos the automatoi wear them. I know they're not character models but they do work in the game. Other than that I'm clueless as to what you said about the parameters?

Nah no spoiler, but i never paid that much attention to there helmets. ;)

What i mean is that the helm under creatures/automatoi dont has any real stats and in the Art Editor it has the normal Circle Helmet assigned to them, so its not meant to be a real item for the player. Thats also why it dont look like the automatoi helm.

The only thing you could do is create a new item and add the mesh and texture of the automatoi helm to the new item. But you would have to find the mesh( the item model) and the texture (the skin).

The mesh is Creatures\Monster\Automatoi\AutomatoiHeadA.msh so if you would change that maybe the helm would look like the helm, but i dont think it would look correctly on your character. ;) Also there seems to be no texture at all... that might be an extra problem. So i believe it simple isnt meant to be a wearable item.

Update : You got me curious and i just tested it, the result was just what i expected. This is the result.

Hi Shark, I got it to work in a custom game kinda. The helm is actually a helm but there is no inventory picture for it. I opened it as a new database entry. It is in creatures/automatoi but when you double click to modify it the equipmet modification screen pops up. In actor variables I modified the mesh, base texture and bump texture to exactly like they are spelled in the original records/creature/automatoi. I then altered the scale to 0.800000 . Here's my problem after I set it down on a custom map and equip it, it's mostly inside my chest. I can see some of the graphics(the ones that stick out from my body). The helm turns with my head and works the size looks good the only prob is it too low. You have any ideas?

Edit: The size of 0.800000 may be a bit too small she has a melon for a head. Its odd too because she has really short hair. I also don't know how to alter the name from, "Tag not found:Iron"?

Edit II: As I scale the helm from 0.800000 to 1.000000 it raises up to fit perfectly at 1.0 . The helm itself actually got smaller as well, as compared to the automatoi model. I compared it next to the matching automatoi model in the editor. It easily fit inside the actual automatoi's helm. I used the master helm b and compared it to the master automatoi. It looks cool with the correct texture, try it out. I'm curious to see it with armor with shoulder pads on. As of now she's just in the tunic. Maybe that's why the helm looks so big? There may be other items in the editor that we can bring out in custom games as well?

The helm fits on the female model nicely but the male model his face sticks through the front, especially when he is in combat mode. Maybe if they release an import/exporter someone can go in and tilt the helm forward and down so it can fit his head correctly. Or maybe someone at IronLore could go in and make the helm a viable drop, after they iron out all the kinks that is. A less bumpy texture would look nice too.

Ermm, how exactly do you extract and repack the creatures.arc file?
