View Full Version : Monsters carry potions... but how about using them?

Okay, I am not looking to discuss all monsters using potions, but some of the stronger ones (at random), and definitely the heroes. I personally think a bunch of the game's balance can be corrected in favor of the game and not the player by working on the AI mechanics (archers should skirt around more, etc.).

Note that I am not suggesting that monsters physically use potions, but that they are given some kind of no-cost healing skill that would simulate potion use but have a huge recharge. This way pots would still drop, and we don't run into the problem of every enemy carrying them using them (and plus I don't even know if it's actually possible for the game to make an enemy use a potion item).

Also, skeletons should not carry potions. It just doesn't make sense.

Well, it should be possible to put a custom death ward on the monsters, that's much like a potion and simulates that the pc has some AI...

Well if I am not mistaken some of the Monster do heal extreemly fast, bosses mainly, some of the Heros in Lilith heal very fast as well

I'm not talking about healing fast, I'm talking about an instant heal. Let's say you're facing a fierce Centaur Elder. He attacks, then steps back a bit to throw down a battle standard, and maybe circles you for a bit so the effect can go into place. Your health is low, so you heal. Obviously this match is over, right? Well, you get his health down a little more, then suddenly he "drinks a potion" and is back up at 70% strength, blows his war horn, and runs around trying to find some backup. Or maybe he instead charges back into the fray. The choice is random, but it seems like intelligent AI.

You seem a pro about skels, are you a necromancer?
Skeletons could keep potions from their past life, even they can't use them. Are skels rationals beings?

I would think that a health potion is one of those things an intelligent skeleton would possess out of irony; it's a tool for restoring health, something a skeleton no longer has.

Yea, indeed, lol.

Although, you can heal your Liche with healing spells.
