yet another noob :)

Hi all well i gave up my pay to play games yesterday gave conan a try and before that it was everquest 2 since launch.So i looked through my old games looking for somthing similer to fill the void so to speak .So i installed all my d2 suff to get me back in the mood for diablo 3 and what do i find they dont keep your toons after 6 months or so of inactivity (been 5 years or so since i was ingame).then i remembered that their was a game called titan quest which was similer to d2 quick search on play .com i find both the main game and the expansion for £7.99 each bargin
So im waiting on the disks to apear hopefully it will be tommorow.
so time for noobie questions lol
since im new to the comunity and havent even got the game yet im just trying to get a feel of the comunity
im going to playing online hopefully is the main population playing on vanilla severs or is their any one mod thats used and played the most ?
im asuming theirs a battlenet sever type situation for finding ,joining servers ?
can patching be done in game or is it best for me just to download them ready for when the disks get here +what version should i down load im asuming that the expansion install would add some patches ?
so thats about it il carry on reading the rest of the forums trying to get a better understanding of the game

You can patch in-game. After doing that you can look for mods in the mod section (just go back to the main forum page and scroll down a bit).

Online this game is lacking. Open servers only and not a whole lot of games to join.

yeah, first post for me. Been lurking on the forums for a while. Haven't taken the game online yet, never cared for D2 online, but I would highly recommend getting the fanpatch, and I know I'm not alone in recommending it. fixes some buggy skills and also fixes the drop rate a little bit.
