I'm a level 30 conquerer and my char started getting squishy in act III and now it is even worse in act IV. My DPS is great imo (294 base with 8% life leech) and killing fast enough isn't a problem but I seem to take so much damage that I am constantly chugging potions. Most of my armor is rated pretty low but has good +str / +dmg mods ... so I'm wondering if that is the problem..?

DEFENSE MASTERY
Battle Awareness: Max everything.
Armor Handling: MAX IT OUT! Seriously this should be the first skill that you maxed out already.
Rally: Only put 1 point into Rally it self and it's first Synergy, but max out Defiance.
Quick Recovery: MAX IT OUT! It's shield recovery time and it's shield block are amazing.
Adrenalin: Only put 1 point into the first skill but max out it's synergies.
Shield Smash/Disable/Pulverize: MAX!
Batter: MAX IT AND MAX REND ARMOR. The damage of batter is percent based therefore the better the shield the better the batter damage, plus Rend armor's armor reduction helps a lot.
Colossus Form: Only put one point. Maxing this out just isn't worth it.

WARFARE MASTERY
Onslaught: Max everything.
Dodge Attack: MAX IT.
Battle Rage: Only put 1 skill point into it. Leave it's synergies alone.
Battle Standard/Triumph: Only put 1 skill point into each.
War Wind: Max it but not it's synergy, leave that alone.
War Horn: Purely optional.
Ancestral Horn: Only put one point into it.

Every other skill that I've left out, don't even touch.
There's the best advice I can give for that Mastery. The Conqueror's the easiest class in the game (by a long shot) so you shouldn't be having that much trouble with it.

I'm going to disagree on several points.

Colossus Form's 50% damage absorption is not to be overlooked and at level 70, you should have more than enough skill points to put into it.

As I just got a Conqueror through to Legendary and completed it using xmax and with 0 deaths, I can honestly say that I stopped using Batter somewhere around Act Two Normal. However, as I was level 40 by the time I hit Act Two, keep in mind that I had all shield passive skills maxed out.

War Wind, I suppose but I'd much rather have Shield Smash and Disruption. Has a lower SP cost, at max level Shield Smash costs 63 + 22 from Disruption is less than War Winds 86, adds skill disruption and does not take away from overall damage.

One point in Triumph. I can not even tell you how great having enemies have -40% damage is at max level. Pop one in a strategic location and you'll notice how much easier bosses are defeated.

I'd say you could level a bit. Maybe 2 levels. Then max Ignore Pain, 1-8 pt in Quick Recovery (use it as often as you can), 1 in Armor Handling. Drop Adrenaline line for now. Dodge Attack would be nice too. You have too many points in Warfare mastery, those skill point would've been spent better in skills.

like Poinas said, level a bit.

I also think that your combined armor and block is way to low. Get better armor. Try shopping a bit. But that is just my oppinion(spelling?)...

This is my build. It for level 64 and then for there you can max other skills like Ancestral Horn, Resilience, and Shield Charge.

My level 17 conqueror act I, can do about 220 dps with 90 poison over 6 secs...

I find that act 3 and 4 is more about reducing/replacing the damage I take than increasing the damage I deal. I almost always give up my Mountaineer's and Juggernaut's torso armor in favor of Veteran's armor (%damage reduction, %DA, and %chance to avoid projectiles) when I set foot in the Hanging Gardens. I also target at least 40% pierce resistance in act 3 and at least 40% vitality resistance in act 4. "of Trickery" weapons and shields can help with dodging attacks. My motto -- The best defense is not to get hit.

I used to think that Ritual Necklaces were the biggest waste of time before TQIT came out. Now I like to equip one in act 4 socketed with Tortured Soul and completion bonus of 50% damage to undead.

My mages favor Honor Guard Torso armor in act 3 and 4 for the added armor and peirce resistance.
