There are many ways, some easy, some not.

Backup the creatures.arc file before you mess around with it.

You can use the Skins For Dummies method and never worry about your arc file.

Or you can just get the AllSKins Mod - it has just about every skin that's EVER been posted, as well as keeping all the default ones intact, and it won't touch your original arc files.

Use the new tools and techniques. They're better, they're easier, they're safer. What more could you want?
