oh, and another thing... while this thread is really great and helpful it doesn't include ALL monster infrequents... and the items are spread over 27 pages, depending on the people who posted them... it would be even better if there was a complete list of ALL monster infrequents, which monsters drops them and the best place to farm for them.. and all that in a single post, so you don't have to read through a million posts...

The majority of MIs are either junk or items that get standard yellow or green affixes. As such, there's no reason why people would want to farm them. Why would you want to farm for Hale Gorgon Cuffs when you can buy (or find) other Hale cuffs?

Have you people heard of the custom map called " ShopMI " ? it has every rare MI ive ever heard of, and it shows pre/suf for every one. use the defiler for tons of money, go shopping, and switch it to main quest for near-invincibility.

The list (usually) has 3 line per item ... one per difficulty. It's given by mi_n_*, mi_e_* and mi_l_* resp. So it's 486/3 = 162 MI plus stheno's wisdom, which only exists for epich difficulty. You have found more than exist. :lol:

In TQVault2.15 and later click on the item with your RMB and choose properties. In the first line you'll find the items name, in the second line the database entry. If it starts with MI, it's an MI, otherwise it's not.

You activate the last Rebirth Fountain in the Labyrinth and backtrack from there. You can actually check if Gorgons have spawned if you just move closer to the south wall. If you see Gorgons on the other side, bingo. If not, exit to Windows and restart the game and check again. If the game has spawned a certain kind of monster on a certain location it will continously do so unless you restart meaning that once you get Gorgons it's happyfarming galore.

If you backtrack there are fout nearby spots with Gorgons with a possible total of eight bosses although you normally get six.

A bit easier is X2-Gorgon Sisters as you get nine bosses guaranteed although this run is a bit longer.

SBC are available in all difficulty levels. They give +1 skills in Normal, +2 in Epic, +3 in Legendary. You don't need to search for ones with +skills. They all have it as a standard bonus, along with elemental resistance.

I'm thinking that there are 2 areas that are worthy of farming:
-the cave in Tsongmo Peak (http://www.gamebanshee.com/titanquest/walkthrough/tsongmopeak.php) with Barmanu at the end
-Orkhan Valley (http://www.gamebanshee.com/titanquest/walkthrough/orkhanvalley.php), which has 3 neanderthal caves.

Now I'm trying to make some sense out of the database records.
This is an example for the legs in epic difficulty, I'm sure the other parts work the same way.
It would be great if someone could correct me where I'm wrong or add some of their own knowledge.

Seriously I have those drop like once every 10 minutes on average, when fighting Ichtians from Babylon onwards.

Same goes more or less for Myrmidons Sting, Eldritch Bow and Deathweaver's Shield. I hate those drops.

Maybe Rage of Ares with the +25% damage completion bonus. I use that and every now and then monsters are sent flying.

After a few days farming Hydra and finding some nice stuff I decided it was time to move on, so I fought my way to Athens thinking to go as quickly as possible to the minotaur labyrinth to farm for new SBC (have one with + 2 skill's and strength), I went to the dungeon beneath the Acropolis and behold lots of gorgons here, I thought nooo not possible to find SBC here, so I killed them all in the different levels and they dropped one green item yessss, SBC of Speed + 3 skill's (25% AS) suffix: 2.4%, sometimes you can be lucky.

About the folg: You are sure these numbers are correct? That would mean that I would find 1 folg each 250 trolls alikes (how are they called?). In just playing i found 3 so far. I don't think i've already killed 250 of them.
Folg drops so easy for me, and i had such a hard time on the Sabertooth and stonebinders cuffs=(. I also directly found an khtonion spike. Somewhere at the beginning where you meet the milonoes (or something like that) when going to Cerberus.

Best I could muster was a "Speed" on a Legendary pair... I put a Viny Growth in there as I don't like to drink potions. Combined with Herbal Remedy, I get a very nice regeneration rate.
If that's not your cup of tea, maybe a Herakles'? Str and damage.

I farmed today for my first pair of normal mode SBC off and on for a few hours while doing other stuff.

I got 17 resists, 1 skills, 8% attack speed as my first pair ever. I'm quite happy :).

In the process I got a hat and a bracer with 1 skills hunting and rogue (don't remember which for which). Given my friend is currently playing Brigand they should work nicely for him. I'm not giving him my SBC haha.

Now I have to decide what to put on my SBC. Probably a str essence. Or maybe a bat fang but things die so fast there is no time to leech.

Str is very useful, especially while you level-up. Rage of Ares is also a popular choice for added damage. And my personal favourite: viny growth for health regeneration.

Bat Fang is a weapon socket, not armour. So that isn't a choice. Herakles and Rage of Ares are both good. Make sure that you complete the relic in the item. That way, you are guaranteed the +% damage "random" completion bonus.

I also like Viny Growth, although I tend to put it more in boots than SBC. Try one with +% health regeneration as completion bonus on a Haruspex with ToC and Herbal Remedy up. Watch those regen numbers fly!

I really got to say the "Prowler Gear" is really a hard drop... probably just as hard of a drop like the "Revenant Gear", from my experience.

However, I just have a question for the Knothian weapon drops from the Melinoes in Act 4. Ive been leveling up my character, lvl 66-68, there re-running the Domains/Elysium/Hades' Palace over and over... So far my drops have been like this.

I suggest you to finish epic and farm for SBC-s on legendary. I found three SBCs from Gorgon sisters and one in the Minoan labyrinth.

Just go to the last rebirth fountain and go backward from there until you hit Automatoi. There should be either gorgons or skeletons there, obviously you want the gorgons to spawn. If you see skeletons, then you need to reset. You should find 6-8 gorgons that can drop the cuffs, and you don't even need to use xmax.

I found Stonebinder's Cuffs of Alacrity the first time I killed the Gorgons in Legendary. I didn't appreciate green items at the time but I am so glad I realized their value and kept them!

I've definitely found some semi-crappy versions of all the green weapons in Epic. Little luck in Legendary.

Where are you looking? They drop from Melinoe, so that only really includes from Elysium to the Palace. I would farm just after the Hades Palace portal, there's always a ton of melinoe out there on XMAX.

In Xmax monsters are up to x10. Bosses are x3.
Most (or at least many) ppl. who tried xmax would never get back to Vanilla. Its just too boring.

Where are you looking? They drop from Melinoe, so that only really includes from Elysium to the Palace. I would farm just after the Hades Palace portal, there's always a ton of melinoe out there on XMAX.

I've been farming for bloodborn mostly in tower of judgement, but without luck.
I don't use XMAX, never tried it.
I will concentrate my farming to Hades Palace for bloodborn.

What about Witch doctors, in the TQ Itembase it shows the MI's in normal anouran.
But i think that (Elgrandelupo) found one from the Pale frogs. ?

Ah, so I activate the last savepoint as if going for a Telkine run and instead go backwards. I'll try it out; it looks like a better method than hitting the Gorgon Sisters and Stonebinder's Cuffs are so sweet I want another pair.

Witchdoctor gear does drop from the Anourans - only from the mage-class frogs. So to speed up farming for it, just kill mages. :)

Just moved my Brigand through the five domains to Elysium, and pulled 4 MI's through that area. One Khthonion spike, a Razor, Phonoi and Homados.
It's my first Homados and Khthonion Razor drops ever. Just wondering about Homados. I tried putting it on, remembering something about it maxing AS, as this thread say, and fired some test shots. Then I removed my bracers that add a fairly large amount of AS, and it felt like I was shooting much slower.

Any idea why it looks and feels much slower?
What would be good to socket it with? it's "of Immortality".

The spike, razor and phonoi is nothing special. The usual elemental damage of some kind and flat stat bonus, you know, the usual.

Found another Homados today, with exactly the same stats as the other one. Read about that happening sometimes, but hey, I don't mind, at least it's a decent suffix on them.

If you have the fan patch loaded, Homados' bugged AS bonus no longer applies. So you'll just get the listed bonus. It's a very ordinary MI without the bug, not worth using imo.

Can someone confirm me if they found a Legendary version of Stheno's Wisdom before I go bonkers trying to farm good dual affixed ones in Legendary. And since they seem to spawn fairly less than SB items, if you can inform me their drop rate.

I think I read somewhere that this only drops on Epic. I have an Epic one as well, nothing on Normal and Legendary. And I've been killing thousands of Gorgon's at Legendary (and a generous amount at Normal), none dropped it beyond or below Epic difficulty (I have a fanpatch).

Bug perhaps, or I'm just unlucky in seeing it.

I am farming Troglodytes at Styx for Folgs atm (many hours a day) and also leveling from 70 to 75 (72 atm). So far best ones are Folg of Reckless power and of Annihilation (found a Tyrant's Stygian Scepter of Reckless power though and using that along way with the Sapros). I got also Iris and Coven Nex while farming and 2 agamemnon's scepters, so not bad of a farm!!
Not seen a good one with both good prefix and suffix. But I won't give up till I find one!!!

Maybe I'll farm SBC's after that since the best pairs I got during 2 days of heavy farming were some with +dex and +pierce resistance. I'm not even going to use 'em though since I can't loose those godly Conqueror's bracers..
I'll post here my progress since I mostly will farm for MI''s for the next days/weeks.

A pair of purifying porphyrion gauntlets of the guile. wasn't really farming for it, it just dropped when I killed a gigantes in the crystalline stellae on my way to hades. Ill be giving it to my warden. Would have preferred it to be a a resistant one. I also found a porphyrion breastplate of shelter and a hale porphyrion's legplate long ago.

A socrate's the night's mistress leggings, was not even farming for this. Thought the empusa at the gate of elysium were making too much noise and I decided to shut them up :p was not even looking at the loot that dropped. There was one that wasn't in a pack, just killed her and I don't know why I just pressed the alt key and saw it. Its my very first pair ever btw.

Started farming for troglolytes items, got this atouk, a resistant atouk of respite. Not the best suffix but kinda interesting on an item that already gives damage resistance.

Yep, of course. The thing is absolutely no alcynoneus items dropped during the session, normally I get plenty of those and I did kill a lot of dactyls, vindicators and heroes. Not a problem though, can't have it all. The 2 rancors were well worth it :)

Purple ones are legendary unique, blue epic unique, you cannot put charms or relics in theses items. Greens are items with rare affixes or can be MIs. MIs can be much harder to get than legendaries, they can drop with rare affixes and can be socketed which can make them far superior than a legendary item.

i love the thread and i used it numerous times. one thing i have to add though, is that math is unfortunately far off and can be misleading. i will try to repair that and explain how you can find out the chance of getting a certain item from a certain number of kills, providing ofc that you already know the percentage chance of that item dropping.




for example lets take my beloved stonebinders cuffs:

"0.3974% - Hero

On average, you have to kill ~ 250 hero gorgons to get one Stonebinder's Cuffs."

i assume the OP divided 1/0.003974 and got it like that. thats unfortunately not how it works (dont get me wrong OP, you did an awesome job of making this thread and respect for that :rockon: im just repairing a little :o ). so lets say c is the chance of item dropping, (1-c) is chance of it not dropping, (1-c)^n chance of not dropping from n times and 1-[(1-c)^n] is the chance of item dropping from n times. so:

1-[(1-c)^n] = x (x is certainty of drop that you want, for example lets say we want a certainty of 50% of having the item from a certain number of kills), so x = 50% = 0.5

1-[(1-c)^n] = 0.5 => n = log(0.5)/log(1-c)

in the case of stonebinders, chance of a drop from one boss kill is 0.3974%, or 0.003974

n = log(0.5)/log(1-c) = log(0.5)/log(1-0.003974) = log(0.5)/log(0.996026) = (-0.30103)/(-0.0017293) = 174.07

to have certainty over 50%, we need the first WHOLE number over 174.07, so we need 175 gorgon hero kills to have a certainty over 50% of stonebinders cuffs dropping



so, for any item and any chance, heres what you should do. you need only a simple windows calculator (needs log function also):

1) know the chance of getting an item. as example i will take stonebinders of alacrity from a hero gorgon: c = 0.003974 (cause from hero) * 0.042 (cause thats the chance of that particular suffux) => c = 0.000166908

2) decide about the certainty you need. for example if you want to calculate chance with level of certainty over 50%, x will be 0.5, certainty over 75% means x = 0.75, certainty over 90% means x = 0.9. lets take certainty level of 80% (x = 0.8)

3) use this formula: n = log(1-x)/log(1-c)

n = log(1-0.8)/log(1-0.000166908) = log(0.2)/log(0.999833092) = -0.69897/-0.00007249327 = 9641.86

4) actual number of times is the first whole number over 9641.86, so:

we need to kill 9642 hero gorgons to have a chance over 80% that we will get a stonebinders of alacrity

The items in the first page (along with some other Mi's or just greens with dual affixes) are certainly great (best in some cases) but i dont think you can build the best gear out of greens only. A combination of greens and purples is probably the best..

That's very true, I just got archmage with the -45% recharge on my conjurer, it most certainly is better than other green ones. I'm going to start a new char, assassin and my gf will play as a corsair. Towards the end of legendary I'm sure it will be a mix of greens and purples again.

Depends on what you're looking for. Items like Bramblewood Bow, Kthonian Spike, Folg, Ker's Fetish, Soldier's Unyielding Will, Sabertooth, Phonoi are examples of weapons that are potentially the best in their category, but without great affixes they will likely be less than their unique counterparts.

If you need a character with reduced energy cost you will find that the Bai Hu's Mantle might be the best. Not only does it give you ~-20% energy cost, but it also gives you the opportunity to implement it with an Incarnation of the Golden Fleece, for a stunning total of -50% energy cost. You won't find that in a unique Torso Armor

And here i am ranting again on one of my favorite threads on this site. Lately i have been dedicating myself on getting one of my hardcore characters to achieve a legit 1,000,000 kills/0 deaths on his stat sheet, and what better way to do that than to farm for dual-mod specific MI's.
