I've heard that this mod allows you to regen health from every mob in the game including traps, undead and constructs. I have a lvl 24 DW spellbreaker with a total of 23% damage converted to health between both weapons and their relics and I've noticed that I'm not gaining any health back from traps and constructs. Is the damage I'm doing too low to notice anything yet?
Plus, if I only have that mod on one weapon, will I only regen when I strike with that particular weapon? Thanks to anyone who can explain any of this to me.

you can only leech from 'living' monsters. undead, constructs, devices have high life leech and vitality resistances...

as a spellbreaker, you should have the skills deathchill aura and its upgrades...the upgrades have an aura that reduces the life leech and vitality resistances of monsters and that (coupled with a %dmg to health weapon or mod) will allow you to gain life back even against undead, constructs and devices

yes, you only regen life when you hit with the weapon that has the mod

ahh, I forgot about necrosis, thanks. And what if your getting the mod from, say, an amulet or artifact? Will it apply to both weapons then? I'm just trying to get the most bang for my life-leeching buck.

if converted to health is in artifact of amu, you leech life with all of your hits. but tell me, which is that amulet, that is worth for keeping? try a betrayer weapon instead with 30 converted.

I'm pretty sure that:
Mod on Jewelry, piece of Armor or Artifact = both weapons leech
Mod on one weapon = only that weapon leeches.

Sounds correct Lillis :)

So it probably wouldn't be the most efficient idea to put damage convert on both weapons then? I'm guessing the best setup is to have one weapon loaded down with damage convert and the other one just for dps? An amulet probably wouldn't be worth it but I think theres a lesser artifact with 13% or so that I think could be handy.
I've also heard that it makes a difference whether you put a weapon in the left or right slot. I always thought it that if an ability doesn't proc ( i.e. Hew) it was completely random which weapon you strike with. Not the case?

I wouldn't advice that , not if life leech ends up being the only thing keeping you from the rebirth shrine.
And it probably will be like that if you dual wield.

When not using a dual-wielding move you get a chance to use the left or right weapon , getting unlucky (using the one without life leech too much) could get you killed.

The best option is going for some non-weapon with the mod.

Yes , but if you perform a dual wielding move then you are effectively performing 2 hits , one with the left and one with the right hand.
The left slot (not left hand) hits first and that can be very important.

For example if you use a sapros + thorny maul you should put sapros left and thorny right.
That way sapros will hit first (for the debuff) and thorny will demolish the debuffed opponents.

If you use a leech weapon and a dps weapon put the leeching one left , that way you'll leech life even if the dps weapon can 1-shot the target.

Weapon terminology
Left side, Right Hand = Primary Hand

Right side, Left Hand = Secondary Hand

we should probably start using Primary/secondary hand naming since the whole right left thing almost got me confused and I know whats going on.

Ok I'm lvl 33 now in Hades and the life leeching strat hasn't been working for me too well. I tried equipping two weapons with the "of feasting" on it plus I had an Anubis Wrath relic on one of em and I'm not leeching back nearly enough life to counter what the mobs are taking off. I haven't been able to find any armor or jewellery with damage conversion on it so maybe thats my problem? Or maybe this setup doesn't really take off until I can get my hands on some epic green weapons with ~16%?
My stats so far are as follows:

Str 540
Dex 293
Health 3467

Thats with bonuses from gear of course. Maybe my health is just too low? Oh, and thanks for all the help so far everyone!

Let's assume you do 400 damage per hit. That gets reduced by monster armor and damage resistnce by some amount. I'll just pull figures out of my rear end and say you result in doing 300 actual damage.

Now, 8% of 300 is 24. 24 of 3347 is ~0,007%. Even if you have some necrosis and 16% dmg to health, doing low damage results in getting very little health back.

And you might not be doing the full 8%, since mosnters can have vitality resistance.

Once you start doing 4-figure damage and have some points in necrosis with at least 16% dmg to health, you can start to consider using that tatic again. In the beginning, your damage versus health ratio is quite big, but it gets smaller as you gain more DPS than you gain health.
