Is it going to work if I try out a Spellbreaker and choose not to use the LK or the Outsider? I am dual wielding with this guy and I would prefer to stick to the "pure" melee theme. I understand the liche king is a great pet but I want to get some feedback from those who have opted to not use pets as well.

My guy is currently level 42 at the end of Act IV normal and the only real trouble I have is against those dark archer guys (forgot their name), but it's not too bad otherwise. This is my first character too so I have only been able to use items that i have found and i doubt the stuff i have is ideal for my character, or his level for that matter. It will obviously get harder but I am wondering if my guy will scale well without a pet in harder difficulties.

Any thoughts?

No pet? definitely yes, deathchill aura is very powerful, though you may always put some points in LK/outsider so that you can cast only in times you need them though it's not ncessary. The build is gear dependent and weapon choice is critical and choosing not to use pets is a challenge without the correct gears. Since it's your first character its going to be tough road ahead!! goodluck;)

Meh, Spellbreaker is plenty strong to do everything without pets. Just make sure that you have a attack damage to health build and the game is super easy.
