Has anyone done a ranking/description of the Dream Mastery and its skills?

The fact that 107 people have looked at this posts says we need one - from experience, which skills suck, etc.

Pretty much all skills in Dream are nice except for Distortion Field (the passive). Even spending 1 point in it doesn't seem too great, because it's not a great 1-pointer.

Generally the skills considered very strong are:

Distort Reality + Temporal Flux (for all builds)
Lucid Dream + synergies (for all builds)
Nightmare + Mastermind, 1 point in confuse (for pet / caster builds)
Phantom Strike (for melee builds)

Dream has very few "sucky" skills. The real choices are Phantom Strike vs. Psionic Touch (easy choice, Phantom Strike is melee-only and Psionic Touch benefits ranged), the three trances (most people only get one Trance and max it, since only one can be active at any given time), and whether or not to get the Nightmare pet.

The least popular trance is generally considered to be Trance of Empathy, but it can be strong for pet builds. Trance of Convalescence (affects all party) and Trance of Wrath (affects caster only) pretty much work according to description.

Have fun with Dream. You really can't go wrong with most skills in this mastery. :P

yeah, I really don't get why Distortion Field exists...it seems just like a watered-down version of Distort Reality (and it annoys me that their names are so uncreatively similar, too)

Sands of Sleep is hardly ever mentioned and I have to confess that I haven't used it yet since I'm playing multiplayer and have no need. But it might be a nice skill for 1 point with some plus skills. You can cast it anywhere so that you could put it on some archers while you deal with others to take the heat off yourself. Could also be helpful if you're waiting on the cooldown for distort reality.

I think you may be confusing Distortion Wave and Distortion Field. Although your point about uncreatively similar names applies either way. :)

Distortion Field is the passive skill with a 5% chance of absorbing a tiny amount of damage.

Distortion Wave is the AoE skill that does damage and slows enemies. For me, too many points and frankly I prefer the petrify from Distort Reality/Temporal Rift.

omg, the solidifies my point perfectly on the uncreativeness...

I actually love Distortion Wave. I use it more than Distort Reality, because it's ranged, and it slows things. I have a prophet who has a nice little combo where she casts a squall, and then Distortion Waves the group as they run towards her through the squall, so that they run through it in slo-mo, while sizzling to death. :) Distort Reality/Temporal Rift is more like my "Oh crap" button which I use when she gets surrounded.
