View Full Version : Spirit at Low levels

I have a low level Theurgist (currently level 9). I have played around with a lot of the low level spirit skills, but haven't found anything that really boosts me through Act 1 like I have with other classes.
- Life Leech seems to work well, but doesn't work on undead, which is a large portion of Act 1 and doesn't scale well.
- Vision of Death works okay as a support skill, but doesn't really help you kill anything.
- Likewise with Deathchill Aura. I have it maxed to level 6 and it doesn't seem worth the investment.
- Ternion just seems awful until you put at least 6-7 points in it.
For all you experienced Theurgists out there, what skills would you invest in if you were starting from scratch? Would you work with one or more of the above, or would you ignore the low-level skills and just beeline straight for the Liche King? I intend to turn the character into a Diviner FWIW.
You should have started with Dream Mastery.
Spirit is a support mastery, its skills are more like debuffs. Stuff like ternion, Liche King need a lot of points to start showing their power.

You should have started with Dream Mastery.
That might be true, but it's beside the point. I wanted to try playing the early game with the Spirit Mastery because I'd never done it before.
So are we basically saying that I haven't missed anything, but spirit sucks in the early game? Fair enough.

If you rush the Liche King he'll pretty much kill everything for you. Granted, I've never actually beaten the game with any spirit build in which I started with Liche just because it got boring. I always just personally had more fun starting as another class and then adding Spirit later.

Piemaster here is what I currently have:
TitanCalc by stonedonkey - A Titan Quest Calculator - Theurgist (http://www.titancalc.com/TitanCalc.asp?mastery=Theurgist&master1=2&master2=0&m1=32-3-3-8-1-3-1-2-0-9-1-3-1-0-5-0-2-0-1-3-2-0&m2=0)
I agree early on it is fairly boring trying to figure out what works. I think this is why people eventually pick another mastery and I almost did too.
Life Leech and a point in Cascade is useful for distance and cast speed to soften up enemies before they hit the chill aura. Later on, I don't know how useful it will be. I think a point in the first undead slot is useful too, a decent damage modifier and resistance for one point. Death chill aura will become more obvious later when seeing faster mobs. I even have a 35% slow rune thing in my staff, no way can I handle double hits from anything when I only have 1200 hps. I recently put a point in the 2 above not sure if that's working. So I agree, it is slow going and Lich King will become quite necessary later on. Find some elemental boosting bracers and that will help out staff. I've had the same 22% boost for 10 levels now, can't find better one. If you find a damage enhancer you will notice you can save points longer. you can take out those mobs easily with Ternion and decent energy. I had 27 saved up at one point, almost went Oracle and decided to continue on.
Soothsayer still might be fun, using Heart of Oak for the Health then using Unwordly Power for the elemental buff. I might try it eventually.
