Can't go to Egypt - game bugged

So I beat the Alkine boss or whatever it's called in Greece, and the gentleman tells me to take his boat, at which point I should be taken to Egypt and Act 2. However, when I talk to the man next to the boat, he says something like he's busy at the moment and nothing happens. I can't go to egypt. I tried reinstalling the game, tried having a friend host and doing it from there; none of it worked. This is the third time I've made this character and I'd not like to play a fourth time if there's no way I can get this fixed.

I forgot the boss's name too. But you can't access the boat area without defeating the telkein (he has the ring of fire around the relic and can't be broken until you defeat his minions).

There are two boat scenerios in greece- If indeed your on the 2nd boat- then that is a HUGE bug in the game. Side quests won't matter- so I don't think its quest issue..

Err.. Telkine, that's right. Yeah I beat him and I talked to the old man afterwards and I still can't take the boat. I even tried going back and beating the Telkine again and I still can't. This sucks

You'll be one of the first to experience this issue, I don't think it has to do with any type of technical issue with the game. Did you make sure you've completed all the quests?

Yeah Im pretty sure I completed the main quest line, and it isnt necessary to do all the side quests, right? So I am not really sure what I am missing.

Yeah, side quests aren't required, just the main quests.

I had a similar bug when I was playing the first town. I did everything, including side quests and talked to everyone, but the game would not allow me to continue on to Sparta. I was going to recommend going onto to a multiplayer game, as it did help me rectify my problem, but it seems that you already tried that. But have you tried a multiplayer game that is hosted by someone that has not completed your area yet?

I don't think I've tried that yet - but I will once I get home today. I get the feeling it'll just do the same thing though.

Try this : Load up your game, right after it loads save and exit to the main menu, maye your file got corrupted for some reason and that might strighten it out, fixed me up against the three madusa boss's in greece

*MAKE A BACKUP COPY BEFORE YOU DO THIS*

Try going into your:

C:\Documents and Settings\*your name here*\My Documents\My Games\Titan Quest\SaveData\Main\*_Your_Character_Here* Folder.

1. Going into the levels_world_world_01 folder, and the difficulty level folder (normal, epic, legendary).

2. Sort the files by *modified*.

3. Delete both of the files that start with *quest* (should be in the last 2 or 3 files.

Try to defeat the last telkine again (megalesios) and see if you get the boat captain to work.

If that doesn't work, do the same thing only deleate your last .que file as well.

Hope this helps and fixes your problem. What's happening here, is you are getting a quest complete in one respect, but not getting the flag that tells the game to open up the boat captains dialogue.

Question, did you crash/lag/quit out at anytime after that fight was done?

The very first time I killed the Telkine, my game crashed afterwards before I could get to the boat, but I figured after reinstalling the game I would have fixed any problems caused by that, though I guess I was wrong. I'll try what you suggested once I get home - sounds like the best suggestion thus far.

Thanks for the tip Ultra - after I deleted all the quest history, I ran back through the catacombs and beat the Minotaur and the Telkine and it let me go to Egypt just fine.
