I bought Titan Quest today and, upon installing it, I tried to run it with no avail. It tells me that my video card is out of date and I need to update it and then try again.
I have a Radeon x500 card with the latest drivers. I even got the latest version of DirectX, but nothing seems to work.
Anyone else having this problem?

Taken from http://www.titanquest.net/technical-corner/1421-common-technical-issues-fixes.html :
We are investigating problems recognizing ATI cards (X300, X700, X800, etc.). If you are using one of these cards and are able to start the game, please let us know what driver version you are using. (I use a mobility X300 and the 6.14.10.6483 drivers)
Doing a complete removal of the graphics driver (using a tool from the chipset manufacturer), then updating to the latest drivers and re-booting your machine has worked for some people.
Uninstalling and re-installing TQ has worked for some people.
For some people, the Omega drivers work and the Catalyst drivers do not.
For Omega Drivers:

I can't believe the Dev actually suggest those solutions.
Reinstall the game?, reinstall the drivers?, reinstall fresh windows?, and it MIGHT work?- are the dev's out of their minds?. I didn't even see this note by the devs till this post.
I was stupid enough to actually reformat thinking it might work. The engine is the problem. I tried setting affinities, tweaking profiles, switching out video cards, unpacking .arc with zero improvement.
Just have to sit and wait for a patch guys-

Is the card a 500 SE? If so, here's more info:
It seems that it has something to do with the hyper memory feature of the X300. This feature is (from what I understood, that's a member of my French forums who pointed that in answer to someone asking for that error with his X300) the graphic card sharing memory with the RAM. And it seems that the Ati Radeon X300/550 SE (check your dxdiag to see if it's that one) has that feature, and has not really 128 MB of memory, and is only trying to fool the OS with the hyper memory.
And apparently Titan Quest doesn't like that and doesn't recognize 128 MB of memory.

yeah...my card is actually a x300 SE. not a x500 like i said earlier. (even tho dxdiag states it as an ATI Radeon X300/500 SE)
so what does this mean? that people who own a x300 SE are shit out of luck?

I'm not sure. The devs are looking into it so it remains to be seen what happens.
