Probably my only real major annoyance with the game at release was the way attack speed worked made slow weapons far superior and thus swords usually sucked.

I read the expansion has upped the attack speed which is good but I remember how easy it was to hit max before. So my question is has this higher attack speed fixed the issue? Or can you still max out your speed on relatively slow weapons?

I reach 222% with my hammer, so yes, it's possible to max it out.

Bleh in other words I probably have to use some bloody ugly hammers to get max damage.

I think some items is bugged. I had 147 (or around there) attack speed, switched armor to a crappy one with only 10% attack speed and the speed went to 222

another important factor in my opinion is the "random bonus" you get completing relics or charms.

for example I completed a lesser artefact, which was nothing special at all, but the completion gave +25% attack speed added to the +10% it already granted and made the low-level stuff very valuable for me.

(on the other hand you can a get completely worthless bonus, too, like "+10 damage to undead"...)

best regards

with incarnations you can get +35% attack speed ;)
and what's really interesting: you can get these boni on artifacts as well (completion bonus). However, farming for the right completion bonus can be... um... let's say, time-consuming ;) (imagine you want the right bonus on a greater or even divine artifact... better take a few months off work and bring some real patience :D)

That would be a pretty low priority for me, you'll eventually accrue enough items to get them, and the charms are probably the easiest to farm, but divine artifacts wtf. Gotta get at least 4 more arcane formulae to even start the process, possibly more like 6-8 and that's not including the reagents.

Yeah, I did not really consider to farm for the right completion bonus on artifacts... might create several lesser ones of a kind if I happen to find several formulae, but that's it

In my experience the divine artifact completion bonuses are always the same. Every Ikon of Zeus I have seen has been 35% attack speed and every Blood of Ares has been 25% attack speed.

A game developer on this forum said they were raising the attack speed cap from 300% to 500%.

Why is it 222%, did they make a mistake?

Saw the same dev post and it confused the hell outta me as well. Could someone please explain how this actually works to the unwashed and uninformed, like myself?

I have no idea but I suspect it's the fact if you raise the attack speed too much the animation ceases to happen. Bad guys go flying but your character doesn't move. I've encountered this happening while modding TQ in the past.

I've managed to hit 222% attack speed with a hammer without that armor, mostly thanks to a relic I made with +42% attack speed buff :)

The attack speed cap is 222% for single weapon and 199% for dual wield.

I thought it was 199% for DW?

What is funny, is that the glitched armor I had is EXACTLY the same suit of armor.

Attack speed is relative. My haruspex has an attack speed of 203% and a projectile speed of 312%, but also a 217% in reducing attacker's speed. The x-factor in this equation is the attack speed of the monster. Regardless, I seriously jacks my speed up to the point where my NVIDIA graphics capabilities are overloaded and the game slows down; but I usually escape with 0 to little damage. However, I don't use this combo all the time, because of the lag time it creates after a short time.
