So, I've never seen an illusionist before, and it seems like it could be a fun class to play. But I'm wondering, with the skills that I like from the two classes, if the character I'm building would stand a chance. All opinions welcome. Thanks guys.

Hi,

What sort of weapon are you gonna use?

My opinion : TitanCalc by stonedonkey - A Titan Quest Calculator - Illusionist (http://www.titancalc.com/TitanCalc.asp?mastery=Illusionist&master1=4&master2=6&m1=32-0-16-12-0-1-1-0-10-8-1-0-0-13-6-12-0-6-12-0-0-0&m2=32-0-0-1-1-0-8-0-0-0-16-0-0-6-0-0-8-0-0-6-8-0)

I think the Illusionist is about confused, slowed monsters ripped apart by your traps and pets.. :]

Well I was thinking bow and spear/shield to maximize piercing dmg, with enfeebling or extra poison dmg. Is there something better?

And Mandrake does look like a good skill I neglected, I could probably sort some points into it for the fumble effect. Also susceptibility seems like it'd be great for mobs, I'd like to sort more points into that as well. Maybe just drop a couple points here and there and hope for + skills items.

Thanks for the help!

Hi,

I would use staff because you will probably take an intelligence route and it maxes your elemental damage..intelligence is also important for casting and mana reg.

I really would not go melee. Stay away of hits..

Thorny Maul overpowered and adds +1 to rogue and +1 to Nature skills

By all means, use a Thorny, however I'd advice you to not attack directly with it, but rather use Wolves to collect a bunch of enemies, and then throw traps right in the middle of the crowd. One trap right on top of an enemy = GG. The +XX% Pierce should apply to your Throwing Knives if you want to use those. They are great along with Envenom line for superior crowd control.

A staff? seriously? With all the poison dmg modifiers in the rogue tree, and nature seeming like a buff/debuff secondary mastery, I never would have guessed at using a staff. I'm at lvl 10 now and I've been using a wolf, a bow, traps for larger mobs, and then spear/shield when they get close. But I do chug the pots pretty well (especially mana b/c HoO).

And when will I get the chance to see the thorny? Until then wouldn't wpns that slow enemies be in my best interest?

Is lethal strike worth it at all? Can it be used with a bow?

I think I got my Thorny Maul from the Cyclops in greece.
In my experience lethal Strike IS worth it. I think I've read posts that said it could be used with a bow, but don't trust me on it, since I haven't actually tried it myself. ;)
You could always try putting one point in it and see for yourself, once you get to that level in the mastery. Should you dislike it you can always spec out of it.

thorny doesnt work with lethal, bows do. spear is probably your most compatible choice for quite a while

It deff work with a bow. Played a sniper build with -100 recharge using a bow and lethal strike. With study pray the bosses went down insanely fast. (180ish attackspeed + lethal strike + -100 recharge is pretty nasty lol) Not to mention that every singel non boss went flying left and right. :)

That is a nice -recharge character idea actually. However, maybe a bit boring :D

There is something lovely about 100 eruptions+100 volcanic orbs being cast within a few seconds and engulfing the whole screens in firey death :)

Hehe dedo i hear you, i like that build too. But my computer doesnt lol, lags like hell!

You should try the same concept of yours Dedo with chain lightning. Smiting zeus storm all over the screen!

Nah the funniest -100 recharge has got to be shield charge.

I have one of that too Frostbane. Pretty nasty kill speed indeed.

For general areas chain lightning spammage kills faster but against higher hp monsters like Olympus, shield charge spammer kills fastest. Atm im doing a spell binder with lich king, outsider and me charing in like a viking maniac lol. Pretty funny and frightning sight!

I'd advise to remove the nymph and get susceptibility and mandrake wih the points you'll spare

In playing Titan Quest i have made at least 5 Illusionists and the class is fun to play the Wolves to major DPS and most of your damage and i suggest the use of swords with poison +'s and extra pierce damage. I like my Illusionist and I have one right now thats working our great for me
