Hi
I am new to TQ and never ever played this game until a few days ago. However i am a experience db2 player which is trying my hand in TQ for a change . Been scoping out the forum for the last few days doing various searches and reading on different posts that everyone has. One particular build that caught my attention was the "spellbreaker" class . I have seen or rather read quite a few threads on it but can see that there a few ways you can build this class and they are not necessary similar in game play. You can either focus more on the warfare side or rather go the exact opposite and focus on the spirit side with summons and auras etc. The style i would like to play is a DW that can tank and do decent damage but also compliments well with his summons. ie Liche, Ancestral Horn and Outsider. I did see a wicked video of this guy using a spellbreaker and basically owning with his summons. I see there a tendency of hardly using or even not using your summons at all. This type of play focuses strong points in warfare and powering up the character rather than the minions. Therefore my preference is a probably going to be different from that as i would like a strong investment in spirit with the rest in warfare. Half and half would also be a good option i really don't know. Hopefully you would be able to supply me with good advise. Here a few builds i picked up. Not sure if 100% as there a few skills both don't mention which i am not sure about. Not very much invested in minions This other build focuses quite a lot of points in spirit but there a few skills not mention that other do and there a heavy points in power up all 3 - Outsider, AH and Liche. Is this necessary?? It looks about right but what do i know I know the Liche is kept at 5 because he can take advantage of Soul Blight right???Looks good but not sure As for points allocation for stats. I read 2:1 basically between STR and DEX is that right with nothing in energy or INT. Been sticking with that so far. Any points in HP at all?? Really appreciate any advise anyone can give me. Apologies again for yet another Spellbreaker thread. Cheers Kyo |

A couple of things to note:
1) Gear makes everything easier, and harder. Having good gear can let you spend some skill points in places that you can't if you didn't have it. 2) Remember you get Attribute points from advancing your skill levels. 3) If you are a caster, don't leave out INT. it affects your cast rate and your spell regen rate among other things. If you want to use spells as a major part of your build, don't forget INT (if they are just auras or permanants, it's less needed. 4) The best part about this game are the Mystics. No matter what you do, you can change the points you apply in your skill tree at any time with a little cash, so you don't have to worry about planning your skill tree out in advance like you have to in Diablo2. Just go play and start leveling. You can balance out your skills later. 5) Epic is really where the good gear starts to drop regularly, so try to get through Normal (and Act IV if you have TQIT), and get to Epic. it's hard, but you get alot more good gear for the time put in.

i've a lvl 51 spellbreaker in epic act 4, that's my very first TQ toon, so TQ was quite hard at the beginning because i didnt know much about the game mechanics and i thought it's just a D2 clone that's why i died 17 times on normal, typhoon killed me like 10 times or so, that was the point when i started looking for some info on the net and i found this site
![]() i only died once in epic by that jackie chan tigerman hero so spellbreaker is hella nice melee build IMO and it really shines after lvl 40 tho here's my toon and the masteries (+4 skills in warfare / +3 skills in spirit): ![]() ![]() ![]() a few other things to note: 1.) life leech (%dmg converted to health) is a must for every melee builds, especially for spellbreakers since they have necrosis (last skill of the deathchill aura tree) so with deathchill on life leeching is way more effective you can leech life even from undeads and mechanics get some %dmg conv'd to hp item (i use a soul shiver artifact) 2.) attack speed is pretty important for DW'ers, more punches you throw DW skills trigger more often your aim is to get like 17x% attack speed, when you start attack w/ onslaught you'll reach the cap because of ador (20+ % attack speed) so i use a fast weapon with useful effects (pagos -> frostburn) and a slower high damage one 3.) investing too much points in lich king and other minions is pointless IMO, because the main damage dealer is your toon, and there are more important skills to max out than the lich king tree i only use the LK and other minions in boss fights mainly to distract the enemy, so i have only 2 pts (LK get soul blight at lvl 5) in lich king and 1-1 point in its synergies and 1-1 point in outsider & ancestral horn, i boost these skills with +skill items 4.) max outt he DW and the onslaught tree then death chill aura as soon as possible, do not max out the spirit mastery until you didnt max out so it will look like this @ ~lvl 40 besides the stonebinder cuff i found all the items with my toon -> telkine runs (got thorny as a quest reward in act 3 ) i need another breastplate tho maybe a ferrus gnosi because my toon's wearing a female armor and that's not a good look ![]() i used a lotta +%str +%hp (Hale prefix) green items socketed with relics/charms before, they're quite useful for any melee toon and you can buy them from every merchant one more thing: if you use warwind a lot you'll need some mana regen items / skills (i have 2 onagers at weapon swap, and i use dark covenant as well) Last edited by r4kember : 06-07-2007 at 03:17 AM. |

Int increses mana regeneration and the damage you do with a staff and spells. I'm pretty sure it doesn't affect your cast rate (whatever you mean by that) or spell regeneration (spell recharge).

I hope the rest of my reply was somewhat useful Kyo. ![]()

And take notice that Triumph is bugged. It won't do anything for you. @ubersky: -%recharge affects skill recharging, nothing else. You can get it from items only. Casting speed affects how fast your casting animation lasts. +%casting speed and +%total speed can chance that. Int has nothing to do with either.
